Big slick is one of those hands where people eventually find themselves uttering the words “all in” and that’s exactly what happened to Greg Sanchez. On a board of 5♣ 9♥ 7♣ A♦, Sanchez bet 1300 into a brewing big pot and the sb player check-raised to 5450. Sanchez shoved his remaining 8000 or so chips and it was a showdown. Sanchez had A♥ K♥ for top pair but was behind the sb’s 7♦ 9♦ two pairs. Needing to get lucky or bust, the river felted a 5♠ giving Sanchez a higher two pairs and a big sigh of relief as he doubled up to around starting stack.
Sangdae Na is in the front lines and was up against a player whom he exchanged a series of raises with. It began with Na raising to 525, was called by SJ Kim, but the big blind player took it much further to a 2525 re-raise. Na responded with a four-bet to 4500, Kim dropped out, and the bb player slowed down and called. The board ran 8♠ 10♦ 3♠, action checked to Na who bet 5000. This was good for the scoop.
Short-stacked Regie Ann Delos Reyes needed to double up badly with her 3800 chips. She moved all in holding pocket jacks and was called by a player with pocket tens. The board bricked and Delos Reyes got what she was looking for.
Two short stacks shoved preflop, Dong Hyun Kim aka Tommy and Regie Ann Delos Reyes. Kim had Q♣ Q♠ and Delos Reyes with 10♣ 10♦. The board was nutty as it ran 4♠ 10♠ K♥ Q♥ A♠ giving both a set, but with Kim still ahead, he won the pot. Both players are still short stacked.
Jamie Avila, Trifie Montebon, and Vytautas Laurinaitis heated up the table with some heavy betting action preflop starting with Avila raising to 375, re-raised to 875 by Montebon, then four-bet by Vytautas to 2150. This was enough for Avila to fold to but Montebon stayed with it and called. At the flop of K♠ A♦ 6♠, Montebon checked to Vytautas who bet 1650. Montebon gave it up.
Sung Chang Park and Arvin Palmero battled for a pot with a board of 3♦ 7♦ 10♠. Palmero checked to Park who bet 11oo and Palmero called. At the turn of 8♦, both players checked quietly to each other for a free river card of 7♠. Again Palmero checked, but Park was done checking and he bet 2000 into the pot. Palmero responded with a raise to 5500. After a minute, Park called and before the cards were revealed, Palmero mucked.
A painful blow cripples Hyungtaek Jo in a hand that he raised from the small blind seat from 150-600. He was called by the big blind and two limpers, which included Arunas Sapitavicius. At the flop of 5♠ J♦ 2♠, Jo bet 3000 big ones and got two players to fold up but button player Sapitavicius was not going anywhere and called the bet. At the turn of 7♥, Jo continued and threw in 6000. Sapitavicius smooth-called. Then on the river of A♦, Jo laid out a bet of 10,000 and Sapitavicius went all in with just a little over the bet. Jo called and was not happy to see the 3♠ 4♠ straight of Sapitavicius. Jo showed his A♥ J♣ top two pairs. Jo went down to a 25 chip. He won the next hand but busted out after.
Two pros Tetsuya Tsuchikawa and Linh Tran tangled in a pot that sent the chips to Tsuchikawa’s corner. Tsuchikawa had pocket aces and Tran had pocket jacks. Tsuchikawa is back to slightly over starting stack.
