Asian Poker Tour Vietnam 2015

Pasco burns Lowe on the river

Level: 4 Blinds: 100-200 Ante:

Oh it’s that river card again causing lots of ups and downs at any poker game. This time Justin Lowe and Jerwin Pasco were the beneficiaries of the river experience. We caught the hand at the flop of 7 Q Q with Lowe check-calling Pasco’s 2100 bet. At the turn of A, Lowe took the reins and led out for 5000 which Pasco flat-called. Then on the river of J, Lowe shoved after a bet by Pasco. Pasco won the hand with his Q J for a full house against Lowe’s K Q trips. Lowe bowed out and Pasco escalated to over 60000 chips.

Mariakis can’t get more from Edoc

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

Three players, small blind Lester Edoc, cutoff Michael Mariakis, and button player Marc Joseph were all in on a pot that grew to 2550 pre-flop. At the flop of J 2 9, everyone checked to see a free turn of 8. Again everyone checked. Then on the river of A, Edoc decided to change gears and led out for 900. Mariakis also switched it up and decided to raise it up to 2000. Joseph folded, and to Mariakis disappointment, Edoc followed suit.

Limpers balloon a pot for a Matias Arroyo win

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

Though it may be fun watching big bets and massive takedowns, it is equally as enjoyable watching a lot of players in a pot. At Argentinian player Matias Arroyo’s table, seven players were in a limped-pot and saw the flop land 4 2 9. The first four players checked to Arroyo who bet 575. He was called by three players to see a turn land J. Action was checked to Arroyo who continued with a 1250 bet. Everyone folded and Arroyo won a nice hand and a decent sized pot.

Appel continues to climb, raise-win against Koh

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

At the first break, Hendrik Appel was leading in chips with just about 50000. He just pumped that up after winning a hand against Norbert Koh. Catching the action at a turn board of 4 10 K 5, Koh bet 1850 into a pot of 3800. Appel didn’t hesitate and quickly raised it to 4400. Koh folded and Appel collected a nice pot to add to his growing arsenal.

High card win for Ho against Kiem

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-15- Ante:

Andy Quan Ho has been quite active at his table, winning several small pots during the first two levels. This time he took a bit more when he entered a pot with two other players, one of whom was Peter Janghwan Kiem. With the pot now at 1725, the players watched the board land 8 4 2. Ho checked, Kiem bet 825, one player folded, ad Ho called. At the turn of 9, both Ho and Kiem opted to check. But on the river of 2, Ho led out for 1400 sending Kiem tanking. Kiem eventually paid to see Ho’s cards, and mucked when he saw Ho’s A J. High card was good enough.

Kastle boots Maeda early

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

Slovenian poker pro Casey Kastle is in the house and ready to take down some pots. In a recent hand, rocess.astle tangled in a pot worth 3800 with a board showing 6 Q 9 10. Kastle bet 2000 to Azusa Maeda who moved all-in for a total of 5975. At the showdown, Kastle was ahead with K Q against Maeda’s J J. And with the river of 7, Kastle won the pot while eliminating Maeda in the process.

Lowe scoops a nice one against Nemeskeri-Kiss

Level: 2 Blinds: 50-100 Ante:

There’s that saying “any two cards” which is quite applicable in this hand with big blind Justin Lowe in a limp-pot with three other players. After the flop was felted, 5 4 J, small blind player bet 1000 and everyone called. At the turn of 7, sb checked, Lowe bet 5000, only to face a raise to 10200 by hijack player Robert Nemeskeri-Kiss. Lowe went all in with his 10500 chips and their hole cards were revealed.

Nemeskeri-Kiss: 4 4 set

Lowe: 3 6 straight

With the river of 8 no help to Nemeskeri-Kiss, Lowe scooped a hefty double up.

Appel claiming a couple

Level: 2 Blinds: 50-100 Ante:

South African player Hendrik Appel is chipping up a bit at his table. He recently won a 2500 against Norbert Koh when his K-4 off suit landed him trips. Then shortly after, he won another one with his K 5 that landed a flush on the river. Board was 10 3 5 3 8.

Sick double up for Lester Edoc

Level: 2 Blinds: 50-100 Ante:

We just witnessed another crazy hand at the APT Vietnam felt. It started off with a raise by the utg player Karl Conroy o 500, called by Bryan Huang beside him, three-bet to 1300 by the button player, then four-bet to 3100 by Lester Edoc on the big blind. Action back to Conroy who made the call while the rest folded. Pot was now at 8050.

At the flop of 4 6 5, Edoc led out for 5000 and soon after, Conroy shoved and Edoc snap-called.

Edoc: Q Q

Conroy: J J

Disappointed at being behind, Conroy rejoiced when he saw the turn land J giving him a set, but that was quickly crushed when the river slapped a Q, giving Edoc the higher set. Sick hand. Edoc doubled up and Conroy spiraled down to 2675 chips.
