Asian Poker Tour Vietnam 2015

Day 1B is a wrap!

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Day 1B of the APT Vietnam Main Event has been bagged and tagged with 38 out of 72 entries surviving the day. Leading the pack is Kwan Kit Kwok from Hong Kong with 107,825 chips followed by Marc Joseph from South Africa with 105,750 chips. Congratulations to all the qualifiers! See you tomorrow for Day 2 of the Main Event starting at 1PM.

Nam Le gets a lucky double up

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Nam Le was way down in chips with only 3450 left. He got them all in the middle holding 8 7 and was up against a player with A K. The board ran Q 8 4 A 8, and with neither holding a spade, Le doubled up with trips.

Peter Nguyen vs Yuri Ishida

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

We haven’t captured much action on Yuri Ishida’s corner and the one we did manage to get a quick glance at was between her and Peter Nguyen on the river. The board showed 2 Q 6 K 2, a pot of roughly around 24,500 was swimming in the middle, and it was Ishida’s turn to call a bet by Nguyen (uncertain on the amount). Ishida eventually folded and Nguyen kindly showed his full house with his Q Q.

Joseph rails Hope and bags a huge pot

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Marc Joseph had a very healthy amount of chips for the first part of the day but took a few jabs which brought it down to around the 40K range. Needing to find a good spot to bring his stack back up, Joseph battled in a hand against Anthony Joseph Hope that began with a back and forth pre flop raise war and ended with both getting it all in the middle. Hope had pocket queens against Joseph’s big slick. The board ran generously for Joseph when it landed him a pair for both of his cards. Hope was eliminated and Joseph escalated to just below 80K chips.

Billgren eliminates Turbo

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Erik Billgren ended Phong Nguyen’s day when he called Turbo’s three-bet all in for roughly around 12700 chips. At the showdown, Turbo had A K and Billgren held J J. With the board running blanks for Turbo, Billgren won the hand and eliminated Turbo in the process.

Wen Ling Gao denies Seal a double up

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Short-stacked Emanuel Seal needed to double up badly with his 2500 chips. He looked down at A Q and decided it was time. He was called by Wen Ling Gao who held A J. Though ahead, the board ran 7 9 J K J and with Gao connecting for a pair, Seal was denied a double up instead he bowed out of the Main Event.

Wittmann retaliates against Maeda

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

Charly Wittmann lost a chunk of his stack to Azusa Maeda but he was not going to be discouraged, instead, ten minutes after, he faced Maeda again, and this time the outcome would be to his favor.

Getting the details from Wittmann, a pre flop raise left both he and Maeda in the hand to see a flop land J-x-x. Acting first, Wittmann bet, Maeda raised, then Wittmann moved all in. Maeda called. At the showdown, Maeda had A-J off suit while Wittmann held a dominating K-K. With the turn and river of no help to Maeda, Wittmann won the hand and he doubled up to around 42,000. Wittmann was surely very content at having reclaimed a majority of the chips.

Peter Nguyen vs Samad Razavi

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

How we wish we caught the action on this however all we did see was a board showing 8 5 Q J 7, a pot of 16,400 in the middle, and a bet by Nguyen roughly around 10000. Razavi called and Nguyen showed his 8 7 two pair. Razavi folded and Nguyen was shipped a hefty amount of chips.

Huang bags a pot against Seal

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

With everyone folding before him, Bryan Huang Diwei on the button raised to 1400 and was called by both blinds, sb player Emanuel Seal and bb player Tommy Le. At the flop of K 3 7, Seal acted first and led out for 2500. Le folded while Huang smooth-called. At the turn K, both players checked. Then on the river of Q, Seal checked to Huang who slid out two yellow for a 10000 bet. Seal folded giving Huang a nice pile of chips.
