Maeda doubles up huge through Wittmann

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

Azusa Maeda landed himself a sweet double up against Charly Wittmann in a hand that he said at the takedown made him very nervous. The hand began with Maeda raising to 900 from mid-position then got re-raised to 1800 by Wittmann on the button. Action swung back to Maeda who fought back with a four-bet to 4700 and Wittmann slowed down by just calling. At the flop of 6 3 4, heavy betting action resumed again with Maeda banging out 4400 to start, then after tanking, Wittman raised to 9700, and Maeda moved all-in. He took a little time to decide on his next move but eventually Wittmann called the 16,300 additional bet and it was a showdown.

Maeda: A A

Wittmann: K Q

With the turn of 8 and river of 4, Maeda’s aces stayed on top and earned him the huge double up.

The ol’ check-raise for Turbo

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

With players such as Tommy Le, Bryan Huang, Phong Turbo Nguyen, Kwan Kit Kwok, and William Tjokro, all in one table, lots of actions is surely expected. In one hand, Huang raised to 900 from utg and was called by Kwok, Turbo, and Tjokro. At the flop of 10 K K, action was checked to Huang who sent out 1400 only to get check-raised to 3500 by Turbo after Kwok and Tjokro folded. Huang opted to fight another day and Turbo was awarded the nice pile in the middle.

Shern taking chips little by little

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

Little by little, Yen Yau Shern is working to bring his chip stack back up. From mid position he raised to 1200 and got two callers, Khac Trung Tran and Michael Mariakis (who is back at the table from his first entry). At the flop of 4 7 7, Tran and Mariakis checked to Shern who put in a continuation bet of 2200. Tran opted to fold but Mariakis wanted to see the turn so he called. The dealer then tabled a Q which Mariakis checked to again and Shern bet 6000 in return. Mariakis folded and Shern won the pot.

Khac Trung Tran doubles up while cracking aces

Level: 6 Blinds: 150-300 Ante: 25

Khac Trung Tran dealt Yen Yau Shern a crushing blow when he cracked his aces with a painful straight. During the hand, Tran, Shern, and a player on the cutoff seat pumped up the pot to 1425 pre flop. At the flop of A 5 2, Shern checked to the cutoff who bet 700. From the button, Tran raised it up to make it 2300 to go, and it went back the  Shern who further escalated it to 15,700. The cutoff decided to get out of the way and it was back to Tran who moved all in. Shern called.

Kwan Kit Kwok seems to be the chip leader at the moment and he continues to add to his arsenal while depleting his fellow table mates. In this particular hand, Kwok was in a raised pot with three other players. At the flop of A 6 10, action was checked to the initial raiser who bet 1400. Kwok called from the button. At the turn of 3, the raiser opted to check giving Kwok the driver’s seat. Kwok bet 3500 which was then called. Then on the river of K, action was checked to Kwok again who dumped 7500 in front of him. He was called. Kwok won the pot with his A J nut flush against his opponent’s A K.

Acting first, Homsel checked to Nguyen who bet 2500. Homsel called. At the turn of Q, both quietly checked their option. Then on the river of 10, Homsel came out betting 4200 which Nguyen snap-called. Nguyen won the hand with his Q Q set.
