Both Neil Arce and Eric Chen checked the flop A♣ K♣ J♥ but the mid-position player bet 750. Both Arce and Chen wanted to see the turn and called.
The turn was a 9♦ and this time it was Chen who led out with 1,800– the MP player got away real quick but Arce made the call to bring the river 8♣.
Arce checked and Chen fired a (way) bigger 9,000 on the last card– Enough to send Arce to the tank and fold his hand.
From the middle position, a player opened to 250 and was called by 3 players including Simon Lim from the small blind. . The flop J♣ 3♠ 2♥ arrived and Lim fired a bet about half-the-pot and it was enough to take down the hand.
The APT Philippines 2009 Main Event champion has joined today’s Day 1B field and already active on the felt.
In one hand, Arce opened to 300 pre-flop and saw a mid-position player (Eric Chen) re-raise to 800. Arce called to bring in the flop K♠ 8♦ 2♠ and a heads-up play.
Arce check-called the opponent’s 1,500 bet on the turn A♠ and again check-called another 3,000 on the river 4♥.
Arce was shown the bad news when Chen tabled A♥ A♦ and he mucked his hand.
The dealer already boarded the entire community 10♦ 2♠ K♥ Q♣ 10♠ and Feng Zhao checked his option on the river. Simon Lim wanted a bigger one and bet 2,800 only to see Zhao make it 7,050. Lim wouldn’t be deterred and re-raised to 12,300.
Zhao called with pocket queens for the boat and was shown a complete air from Lim who had A♦ 7♣ .
On a raised pot of a flop of K♠ 8♠ 10♠ Ang Kai Loon from the big blind bet 600 and was called by UTG player Mark Dalimore. Loon bet another 600 on the turn 7♣ and again was called by Dalimore.
On the river A♠ Loon decided to make it a bigger 2,100 to force the fold from Dalimore.
Gerard Bringley bet 525 on a board of 10♣ 3♥ 9♥ 6♥ and saw a raise from the big blind to 1,825. Bringley just called. On the river 8♣ the BB player opened to 2,225 and saw Bringley return the favor with a 5,325 re-raise. The BB player three-bet to 12,625 and Bringley responded by moving all in.
Bringley shows A♥ K♥ for the nuts and the opponent mucked his hand. Bringley climbs to around 41,000 after the win.
A family pot from a UTG bet of 375 was in the hand on a flop of 10♥ 6♣ 3♥. Blinds check, a player bet 600 and Linh Tran raised to 3,900, the player re-raised all-in around the starting stack and Tran made the call!
Tran: 4♥ 5♥
Opponent: 6♦ 6♥
With a straight and flush draw, it looks like Tran’s plan was to stick with chasing his outs all the way. The turn 7♠ immediately shifted the hand to his favor making the straight. Needing to pair the board, the opponent missed on the river 5♠ and Tran takes down the giant pot and become one of our leaders for Day 1B with about 57,000.
On a flop of 5♦ 9♣ 7♣, Anthony Wright called Feng Zhao’s 225 bet. Zhao then check-called 650 on the turn Q♣ and did again on the river K♠.
Wright show’s a made straight with his J♦ 10♣ and the defending champion in this main event mucked his hand.
After a relatively good start, here and here, Carlos Chang is the first player eliminated in Day 1B of the main event.
Holding A♦ Q♦ on a board of Q♥ 10♦ 4♦, Chang shoved his stack– well worth over the starting 25,000– but saw Mark Dalimore snap-call with pocket fours.
Dalimore needed to avoid a diamond and the turn Q♠ was even better for Dalimore and Chang was formally ousted with the K♥ river. Dalimore easily becomes our chip leader early in Day 1B with about 60,000.
