Recap of today’s action can be found on the homepage a bit later. For now here are the chip counts for our Final Eight:
Jojo Tech (Philippines)- 1.42M
Feng Zhao (Singapore) – 1.20M
Ha Duong (Vietnam) – 1.06M
Yoichi Uesugi (Japan) – 549K
Julius Malzanini (Germany) – 439K
Ian Brion (Philippines) – 420K
Flo Campomanes (Philippines) – 91K
Sahil Agarwal (India) – 83K
The shortest stack in the last nine players, Sebastian Clot shoved his final 59,000 and got called by Feng Zhao, the second in chips.
Clot: A♣ 9♣
Zhao: 6♠ 6♣
The flop 9♠ 8♣ 7♠ gave Clot the overcard he needs but Zhao earned an open-ended straight draw. Clot avoided any trouble on the turn 4♦ but the river 10♠ was the dreaded card he didn’t need! Clot busts out at ninth place ($10,200) and our APT Philippines 2015 Main Event Final Table is set!
Feng Zhao opened with 36,000 pre-flop and had two callers in Yoichi Uesugi and John Tech for a three-way action.
Flop: 7♠ K♣ 5♦
Uesugi and Tech checked as Zhao bet 59,000. Uesugi got away from this one and Tech called.
Both players checked the turn 9♦ and on the river 9♣, Tech led out with 115,000… Feng tanked a bit before declaring a raise to 345,000! Tech, as usual, stared down his opponent long and hard before making a decision but ultimately made the fold.
Tech’s stack takes a little hit but still has over 1.4M while Zhao climbs to over 1.2M.
Yoichi Uesugi opened with 34,000 pre-flop and got a call from Ha Duong. No real action on all streets as both players checked all the way the board of 7♦ K♠ 5♦ 5♥ Q♠.
Uesugi shows A♠ J♥ and ace-high was good enough as Duong mucked his hand.
Ian Brion opened with 34,000 pre-flop and had Feng Zhao calling from mid-position.
Both players checked the flop K♣ Q♠ 6♦ and the turn 5♦. On the river 5♦, Brion added 43,000. Zhao tanks a bit and made the fold.
Jojo Tech – 1.6M
Ha Duong – 1.1M
Feng Zhao – 850K
Sahil Agarwal – 140K
Ian Brion – 420K
Flo Campomanes – 137K
Julius Malzanini – 400K
Sebastien Clot – 60K
Yoichi Uesugi – 600K
On a turned board of 4♦ A♠ 5♣ 9♣, Sahil Agarwal check-called Jojo Tech’s bet of 54,000.
On the river, Agarwal opened-check again but had to wait for Tech, who took his sweet time to think over his next move.
Tech, after a good 3 minutes, bet 200,000 and was snap-called by Agarwal.
Tech snap-shows A♣ J♣ for the flush and Agarwal snap-mucks muttering something to himself.
Apparently, that Tech delay on the river decision was part of the ploy.
With the Steicke bust-out we’re now down to 9 players;
Seat 1: Julius Malzanini (Germany)
Seat 2: Flo Campomanes (Philippines)
Seat 3: Sebastien Clot (France)
Seat 4: Do Hoang (Vietnam)
Seat 5: Ian Brion (Philippines)
Seat 6: Sahil Agarwal (India)
Seat 7: Yoichi Uesugi (Japan)
Seat 8: Jojo Tech (Philippines)
Seat 9: Feng Zhao (Singapore)
With 182,000– or about 11 big blinds, David Steicke from under the gun decided it was time to double up or go home. He shoved and got a caller from Jojo Tech all the way to the SB spot
Steicke: A♥ 4♣
Tech: 4♥ 4♠
With a three-outer, Steicke needed a miracle to survive in this one; no help came on the flop 8♠ 3♠ J♠ and none on the turn 5♣ and river 7♦ as well. Steicke is busted out of the main event in 10th place but received a nice $10,200 for his M.E. effort.
Tech now has around 1.3M in chips.
