APT Philippines 2015

Bubble Burst and Day 1C is Over!

Level: 20 Blinds: 4000-8000 Ante: 1000

The Main Event bubble has been burst! But not after a loooong time as there were SEVEN or so very short-stacked players who had the patience to wait out on somebody to shove first before they do.

Lee Seok Ho or “Coco” is the most unfortunate man in the Main Event going out in 28th place– and became the dreaded “bubble boy”.

Coco shoved 16,000 (exactly 2 big blinds!) and two players– Flo Campomanes and Makoto Ku Jibayashi made the call.

Flop: A 10 4
Turn: J
River: 10

Makoto: 10 8
Coco: A Q
Flo: Mucks

27 remain and all have a shot at winning the Main Event title in this APT stop. Here are the leaders entering Day 3:

Ha Duong – 755,000
Feng Zhao – 522,000
Jojo Tech – 630,000
Julian Malzanini – 432,000
Yoichi Uesugi – 402,000

Action returns tomorrow not at 1:00 PM but at 2:00 PM for Day 3 of the APT Philippines 2015 Main Event!

Counter-Tet! It’s Bubble Time!

Level: 19 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

On a flop of 3 7 5, Tetsuya Tshuchikawa check-shoved on Samil Agarwal bet of 17,000. Samil called.

Tet: 3 5
Agarwal: J 7

Turn 8 was safe for Tet but not the river 8 as his two pairs was counterfeited! Agarwal wins the nice pot and Tet is out of the Main Event!

28 players left– and we’ll learn who our bubble boy is in the next few minutes (or hours…)

Khoo Doubles Through Steicke

Level: 19 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

Kenneth Khoo survives and doubles-up off David Steicke. Both were all-in pre-flop and Khoo was ahead with A A against Steicke’s 9 9. No bad beat happened with a board of 6 Q K 4 10.

Khoo has now around 170,000, still with 29 players to go.

Steicke Ousts Pasco; 2 Away from the Money

Level: 18 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

In a re-raising battle, Jerwin Pasco was the first to shove to send David Steicke to the tank.

Steicke read Pasco for good 3 minutes before making the call.

Pasco: Q 9
Steicke: 10 10

The dealer flopped 5 7 10 to pad Steicke’s lead in this hand. However, the turn J appeared putting Pasco on an open-ended draw. The river 4 was neither an 8 or K however and Pasco is busted out of the Main Event. We’re down to 29 players after eliminations from other tables.

Thanks to the Big Slick, Malzanini Takes Some Off Zhao

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

On a board of 6 9 K 8 9, Julius Malzinini added 52,000 in an already large pot. Feng Zhao from across the table tanked before making the call. Zhao mucked when shown Malzanini’s A K

Marasigan’s Ladies Falls to 10-7

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Ha Duong tried to steal the blinds/antes raising to 10,500 pre-flop from the cut-off. Anthony Marasigan, from the small blind and with a short-stack, had a legit hand however; Q Q and pushed his final stack worth about 50,000.

Duong hesitated but decided to make the call with 10 7.

The dealer boarded the flop 3 9 7– good news for Doung since he has a chance of winning this hand now. The turn 7 shifted that chance into reality and the river 6 confirmed the win for Duong.

Marasigan is out of the Main Event and we’re four busts-out away from ITM.

Steicke vs. Malzanini

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

From under-the-gun, Julius Malzanini opened for 10,000 pre-flop but saw David Steicke re-pop to 20,000 from mid-position. Malzanini took a glance of Steicke’s stack and called.

On the flop 9 Q 10, Steicke led out again with 20,000. Malzanini tanked before making the call.

On the turn A, Steicke shoved scaring away Malzanini, who folded his hand.

Steicke’s back to around 150,000.

Yokosawa Survives, Improbably, Doubles-Up Off Coco

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Lee Seok Ho (or nicknamed “Coco”) raised to 11,000 pre-flop and saw the guy beside him, Masato Yokosawa, move all-in for his final 49,500. Coco called.

Coco: A Q
Yokosawa: Q J

Both hit two pairs on the flop J A Q but Coco was still ahead; turn J changed the tide and gave the lead to Yokosawa. No ace on the river 9 and Yokosawa doubles-up to over 100,000.

Marc Rivera Falls to Feng Zhao, Busts Out

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

After a series of raise and re-raises pre-flop, both Marc Rivera and Feng Zhao were all-in with Rivera at-risk:

Rivera: A Q
Zhao: 6 6

Rivera needed the overcards to survive this hand and remain in the main event. No help on the flop 9 7 K though and still no saviors on the turn 10 and river 7. Rivera busts out of the tournament and Zhao climbs to the top of the ladder with over 430,000.
