Quang Nguyen Doubles-Up, Again!

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Within the last five hands of Day 1B, Quang Nguyen has doubled-up twice!

In this one, Quang check-shoved on the flop 5 4 7 on a 3,800 bet by Mark Dalimore who called, Quang’s all-in.

Dalimore was ahead with A 6 but Quang had his outs. It didn’t come on the turn 5 but it did come on the river 6 as he survives yet another win-or-go-home situation. Quang who had below 8,000 a few hands ago now has over 30,000.

Nguyen vs. Nguyen

Pre-flop showdown between Quang Nguyen versus Hoang Nguyen in one of the last hands in Day 1B.

Quang: K J
Hoang: 9 9

Immediately, Quang grabbed the lead on the flop K A 10 and his double-up was confirmed on the turn 3 and river 8. Quang climbed to around 16,000 after the hand.

Last 5 Hands for Day 1B

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

We’re at 29 players left for Day 1B at this point.

Zhang Ousts Zhao

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

In a pre-flop all-in it was a classic Ace-King versus pair as last year’s APT Philippines champion Feng Zhao held A K versus Bobby Zhang’s 8 8.

Zhao needed an ace or king to grab the lead off Zhang but the flop 4 9 8 just widened that gap and Zhao was now drawing dead and out of this Main Event.

Zhang has now around 50,000.

Baby Flush, Nice Pot for Castle

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

On a board of 4 5 9, David Steicke opened with 1,025 and saw JR Villanueva and Casey Castle call. Steicke led out again on the turn J and both players called again. All three players checked the river J and it was Castle who won the hand showing 3 6 for the baby flush even as both Villanueva and Steicke mucked their hands. Castle builds around 50,000 stack now.

Steicke’s Big Chick Beats the Ladies

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

A player from under-the-gun opened the betting pre-flop with 1,100. The mid-position player raised to 3,200 and David Steicke from the small made it 10,000 total! The UTG player folded but the MP player shoved his stack and Steicke called.

Steickie: A Q
MP Player: Q Q

Steicke found his outs right on the flop 2 2 A and the turn and river found no lady as another player busts out of Day 1B.

Tran vs. Enriquez

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Linh Tran and Kim Enriquez were heads-up post-flop   5 8 Q in a previously raised pot. Tran check-called Enriquez’s 4,125 bet on the flop as both players checked both the turn 3 and river K.

Tran shows J J and Enriquez’s stack gets hit again. Tran climbs to over 50,000.

Malzanini’s Rivered Straight Beats Enriquez

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Kim Enriquez checked the turn on a board of 3 8 A K and saw Julius Malzanini fire with 3,200. Enriquez raised to 8,000 and Malzanini flat-called.

On the river 10, Enriquez fired another 8,000 only to see Malzanini raise to 18,000. Enriquez didn’t believe he had a great hand and called.

However, Malzanini showed that indeed he had a made hand tabling Q J for the straight. Enriquez mucked his hand and Malzanini jumps to over 60,000.
