APT Philippines 2015

Zhao Eliminates Koh, Climbs to 60K

Level: 4 Blinds: 100-200 Ante:

Feng Zhao has just ousted popular pro Norbert Koh. Here’s the story:

Zhao opened with 550 pre-flop and saw the player from the hi-jack call. Norbert Koh was next to act and re-popped to 1,800. Zhao would have none of it and three-bet to 4,150. The HJ player folded but Koh made the call.

Flop 4 3 10 landed and Zhao went over the top after a Koh bet of 5,500! Koh called and we have huge shoves-showdown!

Zhao: A 4
Koh: Q Q

Zhao trailed Koh’s ladies but he has lots of outs. It came on the turn A and the river 6 was no lady which means that Koh is out of Day 1C of the Main Event. This is a re-entry tournament however so may see Koh play yet again today with players allowed to buy-in before the start of Level 7 about three hours away.

Zhao has now around 60,000.

Nee Ousts Peng

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

Short-stacked Tan Gay Peng shoved with A 10 and was called by Sam Nee him dominated with A J.

No miracle ten on flop 8 7 A, turn K and river 9 and Peng is out of Day 1C.

Chhabria’s 3-4 Good vs. Drilon

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

On a board of 4 5 J and a raised pot, Shravan Chhabria, who was the one who raised pre-flop, check-called Jose Drilon’s bet of 600. Both checked the turn K and river 2 and Chhabria showed 3 4.

Sombero vs. Blaschke

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

Heads-up between Wally Sombero and this stop’s High Rollers champion, Manuel Blaschke after the latter raised pre-flop.

10 4 8

Sombero led out with 525 and Blaschke flat-called.

7

Sombero led again, this time with 1,100. Blaschke called again.

6

Sombero fires 2,500 and once again, Blaschke called.

Sombero had 9 9  for the straight on the river and Blaschke, probably kicking himself inside, mucked his hand.

Lee Da Nye’s Low-Pockets Good

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

Ms. Lee Da Nye opened to 475 pre-flop and had callers from both blinds.

All three players checked the flop 10 9 3 and dealer brought the turn J. Lee Da Nye adds 500 to the middle, the small blind calls but the big blind got out of the way.

Both checked the river 9.

The small blind had the big slick– hitting nothing– and Lee Da Nye with 7 7 wins the pot.

Texas Man Matt Russell Making Moves

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

From early position, Matt Russell from Houston, Texas (that detail given to us by Mr. Russell himself) opened to 1,650 post-turn A 9 7 8 on an already big pot and had callers from mid-position and the button.

When the river 2 arrived, Russell fired a bigger 3,700. Both players tanked and considered their options but eventually folded their hands. The man from Texas wins the pot!

Alex Lee Takes Big Pot

Alex Lee opened with 375 pre-flop and saw the cut-off re-raise it to 1,175. Lee called as did another player in Jose Drilon to bring the flop 8 6 J.

After checks from Lee and Drilon the CO player put 2,200 in the middle but Lee made it 5,575. Drilon folded and the CO player called.

On the turn A it was Lee who led out for 6,500 and was called by his heads-up opponent. On the river Q Lee shoved his final 8,950 and his opponent couldn’t make the call to give Lee the huge pot.

With Mid-Pair and Low-Kicker, Saigal Calls Anyway

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

On a board of J 6 A 5 K, Jasven Saigal with K 3 thought hard about a 7,500-bet from the small blind. Off the tank, Saigal called with conviction and it was the right one as he’s shown the opponent’s 10 7– complete air!

Pham’s Boat is Bigger

Level: 2 Blinds: 50-100 Ante:

On a board of 8 7 8 10 K, Huy Pham fired 2,800 with an already nice pot in the middle. The UTG player called even as two players got out of the way.

UTG had 8 7 for a flopped full but Pham’s 10 10 turned the boat as well.
