After winning a double up to boost his stack, Gu Jian Chen claimed another pot. He raised to 10k preflop, Weiyi Zhang three-bet to 25k, then Chen answered with a four-bet to 50k. Zhang folded and Chen kindly showed his pocket aces.
Hajime Iwakura had a great start to his day but midway through, he wasn’t picking up many pots. He eventually three-bet all in on top of a 10k bet and Kit Ying Chan called while the initial raiser folded.
Chan K♦ K♥
Iwakura 7♣ 7♠
The board ran 4♣ 7♥ J♣ Q♦ 3♥ and Iwakura sat back down as he was being shipped his double up stack.
Gu Jian Chen joined Alok Birewar in shoving preflop.
Chen A♦ Q♠
Birewar 10♥ 10♠
The board ran Q♥ 2♣ K♦ 9♠ 5♦.
Wu Kui Song added more firepower to his stack by eliminating Charles Hoi Wong. It was all in preflop with Wong holding pocket 5♦ 5♣ and Song with Q♦ 9♦. The board was 4♣ 7♥ Q♣ 8♦ J♣ for a higher pair to Song.
Weiyi Zhang’s swung wildly early in the day but found a way to settle down and go in one direction, upwards. In a hand against Huang Gwang Lun, Zhang did more than grind for chips, he earned a double up to send Huang’s stack spiraling down to one chip.
On a flop of A♦ 7♥ 4♥, Huang bet 16.5k onto a raised pot preflop and Zhang check-called. On the 4♠ turn, action was the same with Zhang check-calling a 45k bet. Then on the 9♣ river, Zhang put his tournament life on the line by calling Huang’s all in while holding less chips. It was a good decision as Huang only had K-Q. Zhang shipped in the massive pot with his winning Q♥ Q♦.
Huang was eliminated on the next hand.
Michael Soyza has just claimed a massive pot in a hand that saw Thomas Ward all in with 93k, Soyza with 118.5k, and Canlin Chen digging deep in the tank before calling with his big stack.
Soyza A♠ Q♦
Ward K♥ J♦
Chen 10♣ 10♥
The board ran 2♥ 6♠ 3♣ Q♥ 8♣ for a winning top pair to Soyza. He zoomed to 380k, Chen dropped to 120k, and Ward was eliminated.
Yuan Hang Zhong has been on a steady incline picking up his fair share of pots throughout the day. We recently saw him win a sizable one against Jaydeep Dawer to further pump up his arsenal. However, he just got chunked down by Wu Kui Song to bring him back to around starting stack (which is way below average).
On a board of 3♠ J♠ 8♦, Song bet 4k, Zhong raised to 9k, then Song replied with a 130k three-bet. Zhong answered with an all in which was quickly called by Song.
Zhong K♦ K♥
Song J♣ 10♣
The turn 7♣ still had Zhong ahead but with a 10♥ on the river, Song improved to two pair and doubled up huge to around 530K.
Canlin Chen was involved in a pot against Thomas Ward which we caught on the flop 4♦ K♣ 3♥. Chen bet 30k and Ward called. On the Q♥ turn, Chen moved all in and Ward folded. Chen showed his A♠ 2♠.
An orbit or so after, Chen won another pot. Saul Oliver raised to 7500, Wang Bing called and so did Chen. At the flop of 3♦ 6♦ A♠, Chen and Oliver checked, Bin bet 12k and only Chen called. The 4♠ turn was checked, but not the river 6♥. Chen bet 25k and Bin called. Chen showed his A♥ K♥ two pair and Bin mucked.
Players are back and the clock has resumed. There are 35 players left. They will be playing another four rounds.
