Alecz Chan finishes off Kosei Ichinose

Level: 15 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

Alecz Chan kicked off the action with a 12k bet then faced an all in by short stacked Kosei Ichinose. Chan called.

Chan A 5
Ichinose K 9

The board drew blanks for the Japanese pro and he was eliminated. We are now down to the final two tables with 18 players remaining.

Small pair good for Guo Dong

Level: 15 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

We haven’t reported many hands on Guo Dong, one of our decorated APT Main Event champions, however he has been winning a good number of hands throughout the day. We caught one on the river action with Yuichi Sumida betting 37k onto a board 6 9 6 7 K and 41.5k brewed in the middle. Dong called and won it with 4 4 over Sumida’s A 3 that missed.  Dong now sits with 285k.

Good call for Kai Paulsen

Level: 15 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

On a turn board 5 5 9 8, Kai Paulsen check-called Terry Tang’s 14k bet and the river fell 5. Paulsen checked it again, Tang bet 22k, and after a bit of contemplation, Paulsen dropped in the call. It was a good one with Tang turning over his bluff 10 7. Paulsen won it with A Q. He is now at 325k.

Varun Gupta surrenders to Kahle Burns

Level: 14 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Kahle Burns put the heat on thick on our recent APT Main Event champ Varun Gupta. From the button seat, Gupta raised to 16k, Burns three-bet to 36k, Gupta answered with an 80k four-bet, only to hear Burns announce all in. Gupta folded while showing an ace. He is down to 135k while Burns rose to around 400k.

Ken Okada eliminated

Level: 14 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Ken Okada has been short stacked for some time and hoped to double up in a hand against an even shorter stack Chan Chi Kit however his A-Q did not improve and Chan’s K-K prevailed. With only 33k behind, he got it all in with 6-6 and Ryuichi Utsunomiya called with 3-3. The board was still unwilling to help Okada out as it ran J-7-A-A-3 for a full house to Utsunomiya.

More players fall….. 20 remaining

Level: 14 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

From 54 that started the day we are now at 20 players remaining. Michael Soyza climbed to 500k after railing super short stacked Sun Zehin.

At a separate table, Zarvan Tumboli eliminated Andrew An with Q-Q doing the job against A-10.

Terry Tang rails Lee Kyung Min

Level: 14 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

The day’s entering chip leader Lee Kyung Min couldn’t match his performance at Day 1B and fell out of the running well before the money round. His last hand was 5-5 that didn’t improve against Terry Tang Tian Yuan’s J-J. As for Tang he is roughly around 300k.

Michael Soyza rails Jin Yong, soars to 470k

Level: 13 Blinds: 1500-3000 Ante: 500

Michael Soyza shipped in a huge pot by taking down Jin Yong’s big stack. The hand began with Yong raising to 7500 from utg+1, Soyza three-bet to 20k from the hijack seat, then Yong with the flat-call.

On the flop 3 9 7, Yong checked, Soyza continued with a 23k bet, and Yong called. On the 2 turn, Yong checked it again, Soyza banged out 57k, and this time Yong check-raised it all in for around 120k total. Soyza called.

Yong 8 8
Soyza A 5

Though Yong was ahead with his pair, the river Q pushed Soyza ahead with his nut flush and down fell Yong. Soyza sits with around 470k.

Cooler hand between Stephen Nathan and Hung Sheng Lin

Level: 13 Blinds: 1500-3000 Ante: 500

Another one of those coolers arrived with Stephen Nathan on the losing end with K-K against Hung Sheng Lin’s A-A. Lin doubled up to around 180k while Nathan fell to around 60k.
