Je Ho Lee eliminates short stack Karlsson

Gretar Karlsson has been nursing his short stack since the day started but was unable to get a boost the past two rounds. He finally had it all in with A 5 and Je Ho Lee called with 6 6. The board ran 4 3 6 9 3 and the man from Iceland was eliminated.


Victor Chong gets full pay from Terry Tang

Level: 11 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

Mid-position Victor Chong raised to 4400 and big stacked Terry Tang Tian Yuan defended on the big blind. The flop landed Q 9 J, Tang checked, Chong continued with a 7k bet, Tang called. On the 6 turn, it was checked to Chong again and he bet 25k. Tang took a few minutes to act and he called. On the 9 river, Tang announced all in and Chong called for his tournament life.

Kalyan Chakravarathy pays Alezcz Chan then busts to Kahle Burns

Level: 11 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

Kalyan Chakravarathy entered the day with a stack well above average but couldn’t bring it up any further. He lost multiple big pots including these final two the sent him out of the running.

On the full stretch Q 3 A 6 4, he tanked on the 23k bet by Alecz Chan with 53k already in the middle. He eventually called then paid Chan’s flush J 9.

His final hand was Q J against Kahle Burns A J and a board of 7 10 9 2 8. Chakravarathy had a straight but Burns had the nut flush.


Zarvan Tumboli doubles through Andrew An

Level: 11 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 300

Zarvan Tumboli earned a sizable double up that sent Andrew An’s stack spiraling down to 20k. We only caught it with both hands showing and a board of 3 2 Q. Tumboli had K K and An with A Q.

The turn 9 and river 2 completed the board and the win for Tumboli.


Erik Billgren doubles up through Justin Chan

Level: 10 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

Erik Billgren was down to his remaining 27.1k stack and shoved it on the big blind. He was called by initial raiser Justin Chan Pak Kwan.

Both players missed the board completely and the ace high was good.


Yohwan Lim shoves for the pot

Level: 10 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

Three way action began with Kosaku Akashi raising to 3400 and called by both Ryota Kubo and big blind Yohwan Lim. On the flop 2 6 8, Lim checked to the raiser Akashi and he continued with a 5400 bet. Kubo called then Lim check-raised to 18.5k. This sent Akashi tanking then folded. Action was now on Kubo who took a minute then called. On the A turn, Lim wasted no time counting out his chips. He shoved. This move troubled Kubo who laid out the chips but seemed pained in sliding it past the betting line. He finally opted to give up his stake on the pot.


Big pot for Kai Paulsen

Level: 10 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

Every time we head to table 3, Kai Paulsen seems to be in the action. He just won a very big pot up against Sun Zehin. On a complete community board 5 6 4 10 K and 126k brewed in the middle, Sun checked but not before tanking for a bit and action was on Paulsen. He too debated but opted to check back. Paulsen won with 10 10 set. He now has around 225k.


Varun Gupta vs Kalyan Chakravarathy

Level: 10 Blinds: 800-1600 Ante: 200

Catching the action on a flop of 4 5 10 with 4 players in the hand and 19k in the pot, action was checked the Kalyan Chakravarathy who slid out a 7200 bet. This sent the betting back to Varun Gupta – our newest APT Main Event champion – and he check-raised to 18.5k. Two players quickly folded leaving Chakravarathy to decide. He called.

On the 2 turn, Gupta jumped out with a 31k bet and this was enough to claim the pot with his opponent folding. Gupta now up to 220k.


Sparrow Cheung climbs to 250k

Level: 9 Blinds: 600-1200 Ante: 200

Park Yu Sparrow Cheung has been very active at the table, claiming numerous pots to drive his stack upwards of 250k. We caught the end of one of those pots, on a K 6 3 A board, Erik Billgren bet 6100 and Cheung called. On the river 9, Billgren checked, Cheung took this cue to fire out an 18k bet, and Billgren folded.
