After five fun no look flips, Alecz Chan won the APT Championships Event trophy! And to think that after Day 2 he was worried about missing out on the bubble protection. Congratulations!!
Due to the deal, Victor Chong and Alecz Chan will receive HKD 369,950 each. Congratulations to both players on a fantastic run at the APT Finale Macau Championships last featured tournament.
We are now entering the heads up round with Alecz Chan and Victor Chong discussing a deal. Both have fairly even stacks with Chong edging Chan by around 170k.
Looks like they’ve decided to split the money halfway and flip for the trophy.
Michael Soyza was dealt his land hand of the Championships Event. He was all in with 9♥ 9♣ and was up against Victor Chong with A♥ K♦. The flop immediately improved Chong to a higher pair A♦ 4♣ 6♦, and with the Q♥ turn and 2♣ river, Soyza took 3rd place. He earned HKD 202,900 for his deep run. This was an impressive finish for Soyza who also cashed at the APT Main Event.
The APT Player of the Year front runner Tetsuya Tsuchikawa took his last stand and moved all in with A♠ K♠. He was up against Victor Chong with K♦ Q♦. The board ran out 10♣ 2♣ 7♣ Q♠ 10♦ for a winning two pair to Chong. Tsuchikawa earned HKD 155,600 for his deep 4th place finish.
Out of the four remaining players, Michael Soyza and Tetsuya Tsuchikawa are way below average that they would need a couple of double ups to reach average stack. For Soyza, his stack fell further while the leader Alecz Chan claimed his chips.
From the sb seat, Soyza limped in and Chan checked. The flop ran 9♠ 6♦ 9♥ and both checked. The turn 7♣ saw some action with Soyza leading out with a 24k bet. Chan flat-called. On the river A♦, Soyza bet 80k, Chan raised to 180k, and Soyza called.
Chan J♥ 9♦
Soyza 9♣ 8♠
With Chan holding the higher kicker, he won the pot and climbed to 2.5M. Soyza down to 190k.
Justin Chan three-bet all in with his remaining 312k chips and initial raiser / chip leader Alecz Chan went ahead and called.
Alecz A♠ 9♦
Justin K♥ J♥
The board offered no royalty as it ran 8♣ 2♦ 5♠ 6♦ 8♦ and Justin was out in 5th place. He earned HKD 133,700 for his deep run. Justin now has 2.1M in chips.
It was the big stacks again going at it while the rest watched and hoped to ladder up. Alecz Chan raised to 50k, Victor Chong three-bet to 200k, Chan shoved, and Chong called.
Chong A♠ K♦
Chan K♠ K♥
The board ran low 2♦ 6♠ 3♣ 4♠ 8♣ and the kings held for a huge double up. Chan zoomed to the leader’s seat with over 1.8M. Chong fell to 1.1M.
The two big stacks both packed by over 1M in chips went head-to-head and Victor Chong came out on top to send his stack well over 2M… that’s over half of the chips in play.
The hand began with a 50k raise by Chong on the cutoff and Alecz Chan calling from the small blind. The flop came 3♥ 10♦ A♠ and both checked. On the 10♣ turn, Chan checked, Chong bet 50k, and Chan called. On the Q♦ river, Chan checked again then called Chong’s 250k bet. Chong turned over J♥ 10♥ for trips and Chan mucked while paying up the river bet.
Chan said he held A-Q. He fell to 950k.
Battle of the blinds between Justin Chan and Victor Chong kicked off with a limp by Chan and a check by Chong. At the flop 8♣ 9♠ 4♣, Chan bet 27k amd Chong called. On the 10♣ turn, Chan checked, Chong bet 65k, and Chan called. On the river 10♦, action was the same with Chong betting 150k and Chan with the call.
Chong A♣ 3♣ nut flush
Chan J♥ J♣
Chan down to 240k while Chong soared to 1.6M.
