Lim Yohwan was all in with Q♦ Q♥ but David Chargualaf Sr. had better and more chips holding K♥ K♦. No bad beat on board to send Yohwan out in 21st place.
We are down to 20 players. Two more busts and we break to the final two tables.
Three-way all in showdown!
Benedict Koh raised to 24k, sb Liu Zhiqiang shoved with 166k, bb Rehg Delos Reyes called, Koh shoved as well for a total of 294k, and Delos Reyes called.
Koh A♦ A♠
Liu 9♦ 9♥
Delos Reyes J♠ J♦
The board fell 6♦ Q♦ 3♠ Q♣ 3♣ and Koh shipped it all in while sending Liu out in 22nd place. Koh up to 770k. Delos Reyes dropped to 340k.
21 players remaining.
In the previous round, Jiajun Wang was chunked down to 5bbs and since then has been battling back. He earned a double up with a full house against Liu Zhiqiang to bring him up to around 100k.
This round, Wang added more to his stack winning three hands nearly consecutive. He won a double up through Joseph Talamayan pushing with 10♦ 7♦ and winning on a brick board against Talamayan’s 8♥ 7♥. He shoved again shorlty after and got no callers. Then a big hand landed.
On a four-way pot, the flop K♦ J♠ 7♥ had Wang all in for 109k, Lester Edoc called, Liu and Talamayan folded. Wang opened K♣ 7♣ two pair ahead of Edoc’s K♥ Q♥. The turn 7♠ improved Wang to a full house and with the river 9♦, he doubled up to just below 300k.
Returning from a break, Benedict Koh landed a fast double up. He was all in with Q-Q and held against Liu Zhiqiang’s 5-5 on a board of K-2-9-7-3. Lester Edoc said he folded pocket sevens.
Raise war at table 4 led to Martin Corpuz Sr. all in, Jessie Leonarez folding, and David Chargualaf Sr. thinking about calling. Before Leonarez folded, Corpuz told them,
“You only have two options, if you call you lose, if you fold you lose.”
Chargualaf counted out the chips, had more than enough to see the flop, but he eventually folded while showing 10-10. Corpuz returned the gesture showing his K-K.
While that was ongoing, at table 3 Marc Rivera was eliminated in 23rd place.
We only caught the hand at the shipping. The board was 7♣ 4♥ Q♠ J♥ Q♦, Jiajun Wang with A-Q top two pair while William Ysmael held 4-4 set. This double up sent Ysmael to the leader’s seat. He has 800k. Wang fell to 44k.
Wang managed to double on the next hand. His A♥ 6♣ landed a full house against Liu Zhiqiang’s 8♣ 8♠ on a board that ran 6♦ 9♥ 6♥ 7♦ A♣.
Gary Yip was all in with A-K but missed the board and fell to Rehg Delos Reyes’s pocket queens. He exited in 24th place. She sits with over 600k.
Clearly the most watched player today is the WPT multi-champion Marvin Rettenmaier. The German pro has been steadily climbing all day and just shipped in a monster pot against Baey Kianguan.
The hand saw a raise by Kianguan to 14k from utg, called by Rettenmaier down the orbit. At the flop 2♣ 7♣ 7♥, Kianguan c-bet 29k, called by Rettenmaier. Action was the same on the 5♦ turn with a 45k bet called. On the 4♣ river, Kianguan continued the aggression and slid out 145k. This tanked Rettenmaier but he eventually made the call.
Kianguan reluctantly turned over K♦ Q♦ bluff and lost the pot to Rettenmaier’s A♦ K♥.
Rettenmaier up to 780k, Kianguan down to 136k. Shortly after, Kianguan fell in 25th place.
Joseph Talamayan went on a hot streak. He won multiple pots and railed Alexis Lim in the process. The first pot he won saw a raise from Lester Edoc to 15k, Talamayan three-bet to 36k, Edoc called. On the flop J♣ A♠ 3♥, Edoc checked to the aggressor who c-bet 50k, and Edoc folded.
Next hand, Edoc raised to 12k, Liu Zhiqiang called, Talamayan shoved, no calls came and he won the pot.
The third pot was a big one. On a raised pot preflop and a flop landing 7♦ 4♦ 4♣, a battle of raises ensued between Talamayan and Lim that led to the latter’s all in. Talamayan called. It was a good call. He exposed Lim’s J♥ 9♥ bluff. With the turn 2♣ and river 3♣, Talamayan’s 8♣ 8♠ held to win the pot and boot out a decorated APT champion. That leaves just Edoc as the last remaining APT champion. Talamayan climbed to 740k.
