During the last hands called, Michael Kim Falcon laid the aggression on thick against Eric Tsai. On a raised pot preflop the board fell 2♥ 7♠ 9♥, Falcon bet 26k and Tsai called. On the J♥ turn, Falcon moved all in for 100k, Tsai opted to fold.
After nearly an hour, the bubble finally burst! Taking the unfortunate fall was Mark Jerick Almusajin. On a board 2♦ 10♣ 2♠ 6♣, Almusajin was all in with Joseph Talamayan right there to make him sweat.
Almusajin A♣ 10♦ top pair
Talamayan J♥ J♠ overpair
The river 3♥ and ended the long bubble round. Almusajin won’t be going home empty-handed though, he availed of the protection and will receive his buy-in back in the form of APT tournament credits.
There was another all in called at a separate table. If two players bust out during the bubble round the rule is they’d split the lowest cash.
Joonwon Lee had it all in on a board of A♠ 4♣ 3♠ 5♦. He turned over A♦ Q♦ and faced Craig Landry who had A♣ K♦. Looking like Lee was going to get tagged as well in this round, the river had other plans with a Q♠ saving him from elimination. This sent a loud cheer all around the room with all the players stunned and Lee more than ecstatic.
Congratulations to all the players in the money!!
Chua Shan Hui scored a huge double up against Yong Hyun Yoo with his aces getting maximum pay. On a raised pot preflop, the flop landed 9♥ J♠ 2♠. Chua checked, Yong bet 43k, Chua shoved, and Yong called.
Chua A♠ A♦ overpair
Yong A♣ J♥ top pair
The turn 2♦ and river 3♣ sealed the win. Chua soared to 360k while Yong dropped to 160k.
We are still on the bubble round.
On a raised pot preflop, multi-decorated WPT champion Marvin Rettenmaier bet 6100 on a flop of 6♠ 10♦ 2♣ and Wang Jia Jun called. On the J♣ turn, action was the same, Rettenmaier bet 14.6k and Wang called. On the K♣ river, another 43.6k fired out by the German pro and this time Wang opted to fold.
Rettenmaier went head-to-head against Dhanesh Chainani. From cutoff seat, he raised and Chainani defended from the big blind. At the flop 8♣ 6♥ 4♥, Chainani led for 15k and Rettenmaier called. On the K♦ turn, Chainani continued the aggression and bet 38k, Rettenmaier called. On the 7♠ river, Chainani slid out 58.5k to send Rettenmaier to the think tank. Rettenmaier eventually called and Chainani opened 7♣ 5♥ straight (on the flop).
From mid position, Joseph Talamayan raised to 6k, cutoff Lim Yohwan called, button Georges Chehade three-bet to 15.5k, back to Talamayan who called, then to Yohwan who jammed his big stack. This sent Chehade tanking for sometime until he finally opted to fold. Action moved to the original raiser Talamayan who like Chehade went deep in the tank. Talamayan eventually folded while showing Q♦ Q♥. Yohwan returned the gesture and showed J♣ J♠. Ouch!
We are still on the bubble.
Menchu Razavi all in with Q♦ Q♣, Stephen Nathan 9♦ 9♥, the board ran 2♠ J♠ J♠ 7♥ Q♠ for a full house to Razavi and a double up.
Head Hunter champion Vamerdino Magsakay may have held his head high at the bounty tournament but at the Main Event, he couldn’t keep it above water. From the button seat, he moved all in with around 20K+, sb Lester Edoc raised to 40k, bb Rehg Delos Reyes re-raised to 80K, and back to Edoc who called.
At the flop A♠ 10♦ 3♠, both Edoc and Delos Reyes checked. On the 5♣ turn, Delos Reyes bet 25k and Edoc reluctantly folded. Delos Reyes won the side pot.
Delos Reyes A♦ K♣
Magsakay 8♦ 8♠
The river J♣ completed the board. Delos Reyes shipped it while Magsakay packed up to go.
That brings us to the bubble round! 52 remaining!
