After taking some chips off Jun Mogi in an earlier hand, Yuri Odagiri proceeded to take the rest in a later meeting. The hand saw Odagiri raise to 4500 and both blinds called. At the flop A♠ 3♠ K♥, big blind Terry Gonzaga bet 8k and was called by both opponents. On the 9♦ turn, everyone hung back and checked but on the 2♦ river, action resumed with Odagiri firing out a 35k bet. Mogi joined, putting his tournament life at risk while Gonzaga folded.
Odagiri 2♣ 2♠ set
Mogi A♥ 10♥ top pair
Odagir is well over the 200k range.
We finally caught a hand from the current leader of the APT POY race, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa however it wasn’t a successful one for him. He raised to 4500 preflop then called Andrew An’s four-bet to 11.5k. At the flop of A♠ A♥ J♦, Tsuchikawa checked, An bet 12k, and Tsuchikawa called. On the 6♦ turn, both checked and the river came 5♠. Tsuchikawa fired out 15k and An called. Tsuchikawa had A♣ 4♣ trips but it was still behind An’s A♦ 10♠ higher kicker.
We just witnessed a couple of big pots being shipped without a showdown. At table 18, Flo Campomanes tanked Ong Jinxiang on a completed board of A♥ 9♦ 10♣ 5♣ A♣. Ong eventually folded up.
At table 15, the board showed 2♣ 5♦ 10♦ A♦ and Miyoshi Miyaka slid out a huge bet onto a big pot before her. Her lone opponent, William Ysmael, opted to fold.
Yuri Odagiri is one of the most active players at her table. She just won a pot against Jun Mogi. The hand began with her raising to 4600 and bb Mogi defending. On the flop 9♠ Q♠ Q♣, Mogi checked, Odagiri continued with a 5k bet, and Mogi called. On the J♣ turn both players checked and the river came 9♣. Mogi checked, Odagiri bet 25k, and she won it with Mogi folding up.
Michel Ghanem made a big call with Karl Marx Villanueva shoving on a board of 6♦ 5♠ J♥ 5♥. Villanueva turned over A♣ 3♦ and Ghanem had 6♣ 4♣. The 10♦ river was no help to Villanueva and he was eliminated. Ghanem climbed to 200k.
Dhanesh Chainani and Andy Li Xueyan engaged in a preflop raise war just before their table broke. By the time we caught it, Xueyan had three-bet Chainani’s raise to 12k. Action back to Chainani who shoved his 42.2k stack. Although Xueyan had the chips to call, he tried to get a read from Chainani. The clock was called on him and he was timed out. Chainani was awarded the pot.
Past APT Main Event champion Gyeong Byeong Lee has just soared to the leader’s seat after booting out Andre P. just moments ago. We happened to catch the action on fourth street 2♠ 2♥ 9♠ 7♦ with over 60k already brewed in the middle. By the looks of the betting, Lee checked on his bb seat and late position Andre bet 30.5k. Lee boosted it up to make it 90k to go, which covered the rest of Andre’s stack.
After some time, Andre called for his tournament life. Lee K♣ 2♦ trips and Andre with 10♣ 10♠. The river 2♣ continued to favor Lee, improving him to quads. Lee is now up to 340k.
On the first break of the day, 66 players remained. We are still far away from the money of 18 places paid.
Getting a look at the stacks around, William Ysmael has over 320K and is the current chip leader.
Anh Nguyen’s stack has dropped quite a bit since he started the day and he just lost more up against Mohammad Samara. The hand kicked off with Nguyen limping in then calling Samara’s 4500 raise.
At the flop of 6♥ A♦ 5♠, both checked. On the 7♥ turn, Nguyen led fore 5k and Samara called. Then on the 5♦ river, Nguyen opted to check, Samara threw in 10k, and Nguyen called.
Samara A♣ A♠ full house.
