On a flop of 2♠ Q♣ 7♣, Tai Hoang check-called an opponent from the hi-jack who bet 1,000. He did the same on the turn 7♠ for 3,000 and on the river A♥ led out for 6,000– enough to scare off his opponent as he took down the nice pot.
A CO player opened to 400 pre-flop and saw callers from the button (Eemil Tuominen) and the big blind.
Flop 10♣ 2♠ 7♣ arrived and the original raiser opened again to 775; Tuominen made it 2,500 and the big blind got out of the way. After tanking for a bit the CO player considered his options and eventually folded.
Feng Zhao won here last year in the APT Philippines 2014 Main Event. If he wants a repeat he needs to outplay and beat the likes of Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, who got a nice win off Zhao in a recent hand.
Pre-flop, Tetsuya opened for 400 and saw Zhao from mid-position re-raise to 1,300. Tetsuya wanted more and three-bet to 3,100, which was called by Zhao.
Tet opened with 2,700 post-flop 5♥ 9♦ J♠ and was called by Zhao.
Both checked the turn 4♣ and on the river 3♥, Tet added 5,500 to the middle… Enough to force the fold from the “Harry Potter” of Asian poker.
Two players who are active on the tables early on Day 1A went at it in a recent hand.
On a raised flop Q♠ 3♠ 8♠, Ferenc Riech opened with 625 with Jason Powers making the call.
On the turn 8♣ Riech check-called Powers’ 1,600 bet. On the river 9♥, Riech checked again and saw Power fire another 1,600– not this time, says Riech as Powers wins the nice pot.
On a board of 2♣ 9♥ 9♠ 3♥, Iori Yogo check-called a CO player’s 1,200 bet. On the turn J♦, Yogo check-called him again for 2,400.
Yogo hit nothing with A♥ 8♣ but so did his opponent who got out-kicked with A♦ 4♦.
The UTG player opened to 300 pre-flop and the entire family came to play: 6 callers to create a nice pot!
Flop: 8♣ 2♠ 5♣
The UTG player led out again for 900. All players got out of the way except for Ferenc Riech from the small blind.
Turn: K♦
Riech check-called the UTG’s bet of 2,000 and both players checked the river Q♣.
Riech showed J♣ J♦ and the opponent mucked his hand.
From under the gun, a player bet 300 and saw 3 callers including Sam Razavi, the three-time APT Player of the Year.
All four players checked the flop J♥ 3♠ 3♥ and on the turn 10♥ the UTG player led out for 1,000, which was called by a mid-position player and re-raised to 3,000 by Razavi.
The original raiser as well as the MP player made the call to bring the river 8♣. Razavi led out this time, shoving his entire stack and scared off both players.
Razavi showed pocket jacks for the flopped full house as he scooped the nice pot.
From the hi-jack a player opened to 300 and found two callers including Phachara Wongwichit from the big blind.
Flop: 8♣ 2♥ 4♦
Wongwichit and the initial raiser checked but saw the button player bet 600. Wongwichit made the call while the button player folded.
Both players checked the turn 6♥ and Wongwichit led out for 1,000 on the river 3♣ and was called by his opponent. Wongwichit showed A♣ 8♠ for top pair and the opponent mucked his hand.
On a five-way raised pot on a flop of Q♠ 9♥ 2♥ a mid-position player opened to 850 that forced the fold from all players except Andrew Nguyen at the big blind.
Heads-up on the turn 2♦, Nguyen check-called the MP player’s 1,250 bet while the river 2♣ was checked by both players. Nguyen showed Q♣ J♠ and the MP player mucked.
