On a flop of K♠ 8♣ 3♣, Norbert Koh raised a mid-position player’s bet of 600 to 1,700. The other player in the big blind got out of the way while the MP player called to bring the turn 7♦.
MP player checks and Koh fires a bigger 3,250 just about 3/4 the pot… Enough to force the fold from his opponent and Koh scoops this pot.
Board showed 9♦ 10♦ 3♣ J♦ A♠ and Danish Shaikh added 3,000 to the already large pot. It was made even larger, when Noel Araniel called Shaikh’s bet and was shown the bad news: Shaikh with 7♦ 8♦ for the straight flush!
Some pre-flop raises in Lee Seok Ho’s table. First, a UTG player opened to 400, Seok Ho re-raised to 1,500 and the original raiser three-bet to 3,000. Seok Ho called.
Flop: 7♦ 9♦ 3♦
Player check and check to bring the turn 8♠. The UTG player fired a big 3,700 to the middle but Seok Ho wouldn’t be stopped in this hand raising to a bigger 9,000! His opponent folded and Seok Ho wins the big pot.
Frank Acfalle Jr. check-called a button player’s bet of 400 on the flop 2♦ 9♠ J♥. He check-called again on the turn J♠ for 800 but made it way more interesting on the river K♥.
Button player led out for 1,000, Acfalle raises to 3,500 and his opponent folded showing the J♦ for what would have been trips.
Low kicker, perhaps?
It was Vi Khoa vs. Johnson Tan heads-up on a flop of 4♣ Q♠ 6♣ and already a brewing pot in the middle. Post-flop Tan fires 1,000 and was called by Khoa to bring the turn J♥.
Tan fires a bigger 3,000 but Khoa was serious in taking down this hand raising to 13,000– just too much for Tan who folded his hand.
On a flop of 7♠ 4♠ J♠, Feng Zhao fired 1,150 but can’t scare the hi-jack player away. The turn 6♥ landed and again Zhao led out for 2,450. The hi-jack stayed in the hand anyway. On the river K♥, Zhao stepped on the brakes and the hi-jack checked as well. Zhao shows A♠ 9♣, the opponent mucked to give Zhao the nice pot.
Feng Zhao, who is the defending champion in the APT Philippines Main Event, has re-joined the field after failing to qualify to Day 2 in previous starting days.
In one hand we saw Zhao opened to 400 pre-flop but faced a raise to 975 from Alex Lee. Zhao called to bring us to a heads-up and the flop 2♦ J♥ 10♦.
Zhao check-called Lee’s bet of 800 and both players checked the turn 8♠. On the river, Zhao checked again but Lee fired another 2,000 to take a stab at the pot… Zhao can’t match him and Lee won the pot.
A few limpers saw the mid-position player raise to 275 and Gerard Bringley, from the dealer’s button, re-raised to 875. Three players called and saw the flop K♣ 2♠ 3♣.
The big blind and mid-position players checked their options and saw the hi-jack bet 1,675. Bring it says Bringley who raised to about triple that bet. All folded to Bringley, who earns another nice pot from the button.
An player from early position opened to 200 and saw Akash Malik re-pop to 475. The original raiser three-bet to 1,850, which was called by Malik to bring the flop 6♦ 3♣ K♦.
The original raiser continued his story with 2,400 but again Malik responded with a raise: to 5,250 total. Just too much for his opponent and Malik takes down the nice pot.
