Anthony Marasigan was all-in on a flop of A♠ J♣ A♥ 9♦ 2♦ and was called by one opponent. Makes sense, Marasigan had A♣ J♠ for a flopped boat and he climbs to 50,000.
Lester Edoc won the hand of Ms. Ferlyn Cabaling earlier in Day 2, but can’t find the same luck in this main event.
On the flop 6♦ K♠ 8♠, Edoc fired 2,000 and was called by John King. On the turn Q♣ Edoc fired another 5,000 but saw King re-pop to 10,000– forcing Edoc to go all-in if he calls… Edoc called.
Edoc: Q♦ 7♦
King: 6♣ X?
Drawing dead, Edoc is ousted of the main event and King adds more to his growing stack.
The beginning of the end for Toan Nguyen involved a hand against Henrik Tollefsen. Both players were all-in pre-flop for a short-stacks showdown:
Toan: A♠ J♦
Tollefsen: 10♠ 10♣
Flop 3♥ 4♣ Q♠, turn 5♦ and river 4♥ and Toan Nguyen drops to exactly 1,100– less than one big blind!
The very next hand, Toan Nguyen with 10♥ J♦ was up against Sammy Bolung’s A♦ 8♦. Dealer boarded 6♠ 5♦ 8♥ K♣ K♦ and Toan Nguyen is out of the main event. Bolung has over 70,000.
We’re down to 68 players.
This is where Randy Boone’s stack got crippled:
Boone raised 3,200 UTG pre-flop and got a call from Hajime Mogi.
Both checked the flop 8♦ Q♠ 7♣ and Boone fires 6,500 on the turn Q♥. Mogi calls. On the river 9♦, Boone fires the same amount of 6,500– easy call from Mogi, who turned over 10♥ 10♦ beating Boone’s A♥ K♥. Boone dropped to 28,000 after this hand.
On a raised flop A♠ 2♠ 5♥, Jason Powers check-called Ryan Hong’s 8,500 bet. Both players checked the turn 5♦ before Powers check-called Hong’s 19,500 bet.
Hong: 10♠ 10♣
Powers: A♦ J♦
Good call from Powers, who climbs to around 160,000 and Hong down to 155,000.
Nang Quang Nguyen started Day 2 with 45,300. Looks like he’s putting up some serious hard work today as he now has over 110,000.
In a recent hand, he bet 8,000 on the board K♦ J♦ J♥ 10♣ on a 20,000 pot. The half-size bet was enough to take down the pot for Nang Quang.
Anthony Gabitan shoved with A♠ K♠ and got called by Masato Yokosawa holding 9♦ 9♠.
Flop: 5♦ J♥ 6♠
Turn: 9♥
River: A♥
and another one bites the dust in this main event. We’re down to 73 players.
After a series of raise and re-raises, both Ha Duong and Inge Forsmo had all of their stacks in the middle. Forsmo was the first one to announce all-in and Ha Duong had to think hard before making the call. The total amount of the pot? A huge 185,000!
Forsmo: A♠ K♣
Ha Duong: 9♠ 9♣
The board ran out 5♠ 5♣ 3♦ 4♣ 7♣ and Ha Duong earns the large pot!
From the hi-jack, Randy Boone fired 6,000 after some limpers pre-flop. Only Anthony Marasigan called to bring the flop J♣ 8♦ A♦. Boone led out big– a shove– and forced Marasigan to fold. Boone wins the pot and has now around 45,000.
