Mr. T Doubles Up

The good news was that Alvin T. woke up with pocket aces when he was short-stacked. The better news was that an opponent, Manuel Blaschke was a willing customer in a pre-flop showdown.

Flop 6 7 Q was safe for Alvin T. though the turn 8 gave Blaschke new outs. It didn’t come on the river 7 and Alvin T. doubles-up to around a dozen thousand.


Malzanini’s Cowboys

Level: 4 Blinds: 100-200 Ante:

Julius Malzanini opened to 500 pre-flop and found 3 callers to bring the flop 8 2 J. Tan Gay Peng checked his option saw Malzanini call and two others fold. On the turn 2 Peng check-called Malzanini’s 2,400 bet again while the river 5 was checked by both players.

Peng shows K J while Malzanini had K K as the latter won the nice pot.


Small Pockets? No Problem Says Fabio Fumagalli

Level: 4 Blinds: 100-200 Ante:

A huge pot worth about 14,000 and the entire community 3 A 5 5 9 were already in the middle when a button player added 4,500 to the pot. Fabio Fumagalli thought about the river bet and made the right call when his pocket sevens beat the opponent’s 7 4– or a busted straight and flush draw.


His Name is Kai Paulsen

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

A post-flop takedown from Kai Paulsen, who led out with 650 on a raised pot with a flop of 8 9 10. Multiple players in the pot folded and Paulsen wins a small one.


Zhao Makes Straight

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

On a flop of 2 8 A, Feng Zhao opened to 550 and saw the player from under the gun call. The turn 3 landed and the UTG player fired 550 only to see Zhao raise it to 2,350. The UTG player called to bring in the river 2.

The UTG player check-called Zhao’s bet of 2,850 and was shown the bad news when the APT Philippines 2014 ME champion showed 4 5 for the turned straight.


Scare Cards

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

With a board of 10 6 9 8 Q both JR Villanueva (with 10 10) and a player from the mid-position (with 9 9) had hit their set. The straight possibilities scared off both players from making the pot bigger however and Villanueva wins a small pot with his set of tens.


Nang Quang Busts Short Stack

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

The pre-flop all-in showdown is now becoming a norm with more players getting shorter stacks.

Flop 7 K J, turn 7 and river 5 and our short-stacked player can’t find his double-up.


Red Benz

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

On the flop 4 7 10, the UTG player opened with 1,200 and saw Sebastian Benz re-pop it to 3,500, which the UTG player called. On the turn 6, the UTG player check-called Benz’s 4,000 bet and once again check-called on the river 3 for Benz’s 7,600.

Bad news for the UTG opponent as Benz showed A 8 for the rivered nut flush and he takes down the nice pot.


Gonzaga Gains a Few

Level: 3 Blinds: 75-150 Ante:

From the cutoff, a player led out with 400 pre-flop and saw Terry Gonzaga call. The flop 8 4 6 arrived and the original raiser opened to 600. Gonzales thought for a bit before raising to 1,500. CO player tanks too and eventually folded his hand.
