Makoto Fujibayashi’s stack got hit in the first few hands of Day 3. He couldn’t recover and has also made his exit. This is how his bust-out unfolded:
First, Ian Brion opened 17,000 and saw Fujibayashi move all-in for his final 120,000. Brion called.
Fujibayashi: 10♦ 9♣
Brion: A♦ K♣
Fujibayashi’s hand caught in the cookie jar, the dealer boarded 7♦ A♥ 10♠ 6♦ 4♠ and the Japanese busts out of the M.E.
Fabio Fumagalli: Q♦ Q♥
Feng Zhao: K♦ J♠
Flop: 4♦ K♠ 7♣
Turn: 8♠
River: 10♣
With that Zhao adds more to his stack and ousts Fumagalli from the M.E. The player from Switzerland will be paid $5,300 for his 18th place finish.
Kenneth Khoo of Singapore has also made his exit. Going to war with J♠ 10♣ is generally a bad idea but that’s exactly what he had when he was all-in against Yoichi Uesugi who had A♥ 9♥.
The dealer had boarded K♥ 4♦ Q♥ 2♦ 8♠ and Khoo had a draw on the flop but missed and he’s now out of the M.E. Khoo is ousted in 19th place for $4,500.
Unlike earlier bust-outs that involved the short and shorter stacks, this one involved a player with a relatively bigger stack entering Day 3.
On a flop of 10♥ 9♣ 6♠, Ha Duong bet 57,000 in a pot that already amounted to roughly 100,000 thanks to raise and re-raises pre-flop. His heads-up opponent, Ryan Hong, called.
On the turn 2♣, Duong just checked and saw Hong move all-in for 220,000! Duong, the current chip leader called!
Hong: Q♦ J♦
Duong: A♣ K♠
Duong hit nothing but Hong was also just on a straight draw! The river 5♦ landed and Hong is officially out of the tournament! Duong climbs to 1.36M.
Hong is out in 20th place for $4,500.
With more exits than double-ups, Ian Brion and Patrick Draper must be feeling good that they are not on the shorter end of the stick:
Brion shoves 113,000 and got a call from Makoto Fujibayashi.
Brion: 10♥ 10♦
Fujibayashi: 9♦ 9♠
Dealer boards 2♣ Q♥ 7♠ 5♦ 8♥ and Brion doubles up to over 230,000.
In another hand, Patrick Draper shoved after an all-in by David Steicke and all players got out of the way.
Draper: A♥ K♠
Steicke: A♦ J♦
Flop: 8♠ K♠ 10♦
Turn: 4♦
River: J♠
And Draper survives and now has over 110,000.
Do Hoang Anh shoved with Q♣ 10♣ and found a caller in Jojo Tech, who had pocket nines. Flop A♦ A♦ A♣ turn 2♣ and river 6♣ weren’t the overcards Hoang Anh were looking for an he’s out in 21st place of the M.E. for $4,500.
Jimmy Johan of Indonesia shoved his final 27,000 and had a caller in, who else, chip leader Ha Duong.
Johan: A♣ J♣
Duong: A♦ A♠
Flop: Q♠ J♣ Q♥
Turn: 2♠
River: 8♦
And Johan can’t find the double-up against the mighty bullets.
Another player bites the dust! Kim Seung Yeol of Korea is out of the main event eliminated in 23rd place for $4,500.
Choong Kon Kim shoved his final 27,000 and Jojo Tech wanted another player busted out.
Kon Kim: A♥ 2♥
Tech: K♣ 5♠
Flop 9♠ 9♦ 10♦ was good for Kim’s double-up as well as the turn 6♠. However, the river 5♠ landed giving Tech a pair and another player is out of the main event.
Kon Kim is out in 24th place and will get paid $4,500.
