Right on the flop K♣ 5♥ 8♣ the poker gods decide they want Gabitan to stay playing in Day 1B. The turn J♠ and river 7♠ didn’t change anything confirming Gabitan’s double-up to around 20,000.
With the dealer already turning 9♠ 6♥ K♠ A♥, Masato Yokosawa and Ryan Hong indulged in a raise and re-raising battle. Yokosawa check-raised Hong’s 2,700 bet to 6,100 only to see Hong move all-in!
Yokosawa says no and drops this hand to give Hong the big pot.
Mark Rivera opened with 700 pre-flop and was re-raised by Feng Zhao for 2,000. Rivera called to bring the flop A♦ 7♦ 4♦.
Both players checked but on the turn 10♦ Rivera added 2,000 and Zhao called. Both slowed down and checked the river 7♥. Rivera showed 10♥ 4♥ for two pairs but was countered on the river as Zhao tabled A♥ Q♣
Adrian Attenborough called Mark Rivera’s raise pre-flop from the big blind. The dealer turned 8♥ 10♠ 3♥ and Rivera C-bets 1,000 on the flop. Attenborough called to bring the turn K♣.
Both players checked and the river A♣ landed. Attenborough led out this time for 3,100 and Rivera threw away his hand.
Pre-flop, Mark Dalimore min-raised to 400 and was called by Sebastian Benz and Linh Tran.
Flop: A♥ K♠ 5♥
Benz put in 600, Benz got out of the way while Tran stayed in the hand.
Turn: 8♦
Benz led out again, this time with 2,600, and was called by Tran.
River: 5♦
Dalimore bets 6,200, Linh Tran makes it 21,000 and Dalimore shoved! Tran tanks and eventually got away from this one and Dalimore wins the nice big pot climbing to over 70,000 while Tran’s stack drops.
With four limpers on a flop of A♥ 2♠ 3♠ Kim Enriquez fired 800 but faced a 2,400 raise from Michael Falcon. Kim called to bring the turn Q♠.
Falcon led out this time with 3,200 but Enriquez returned the favor by raising to 8,800. Falcon responded with a shove and was called by Enriquez.
Falcon: 5♠ 6♠
Enriquez: 7♠ 9♠
Flush vs. Flush! Enriquez had the better one but Falcon had a one-outer… The river was a spade but was a four and Falcon is ousted from Day 1B of the Main Event. Kim climbs to over 50,000 after the hand.
A player from UTG opened to 550 and saw Linh Tran call from the button plus Quang Nguyen from the blinds.
Flop: K♥ 6♦ 2♠
The UTG player led out for 1,100 and Tran called while Nguyen folded.
Turn: A♣
The UTG player led out for another 2,500 and again Tran called.
River: 5♠
Both players checked and Tran won with J♦ K♦ against the opponent’s 8♦ 9♦. Tran adds some more and is now very near the century mark.
Against two short-stacked players, Linh Tran woke up with the best starting hand in poker. With pockets, the short-stacked players (one with the second-best starting hand in poker) wanted to double-up or go home and thus, we had a three-way all-in showdown.

And two players ousted from the Main Event. Tran has now around 90,000.
Masato Yokosawa with 7♣ 8♣ flopped the straight and earned a straight-flush and flush draw when the dealer boarded 6♣ 5♣ 9♠. The bad news? Ryan Hong had the same hand, albeit without the draws, with 7♦ 8♠ so it was not a surprise to see them raise, re-raise and move all in post the flop.
Hong sweated this one out and needed to avoid the clubs. The turn K♦ and river 2♠ were safe for Hong and both settled for a split pot.
