APT Philippines 2015

King Continues to Roll (and Rule)

Level: 6 Blinds: 150-300 Ante: 25

A player from UTG opened with 750 pre-flop and half the table joined the fun as four players called.

All players checked the flop 6 4 6 but on the turn 5 it was John King who initiated with 1,500… Enough to force the fold from all four opponents.

Fear the (Ace) King

Level: 5 Blinds: 100-200 Ante: 25

John King raised 700 from the button and got a call from Jesse Supnet and the player from the big blind for a three-way action.

Flop: K 9 2

The BB player  opened for 700, Supnet made it 2,100 and King re-raised to 5,000. BB folds and so did Supnet.

King showed his hand and proved he wasn’t lying after flashing the Big Slick.

Jason Powerless Against Yokosawa

Level: 5 Blinds: 100-200 Ante: 25

On a board of 3 7 9 4 5 and a pot nearly worth 10,000, Jason Powers tried to take down the pot with a 5,000 bet. Masato Yokosawa snap-called and Powers snap-mucked.

High Rollers Champ Manuel Blaschke Doubles Up

Level: 5 Blinds: 100-200 Ante: 25

With a below average stack, recent High Rollers champion Manuel Blaschke doubled-up to a more manageable stack after filling the boat right on the flop.

On a board of 10 10 J 6, Blaschke with pocket jacks was all-in against a drawing-dead opponent who was chasing an insignificant straight with K Q.

The river 6 was of course a mere formality and Blaschke wins a 40,000+ pot.

Lucky Bolung

Level: 5 Blinds: 100-200 Ante: 25

On a flop of A 3 4 and a considerably large pot, Sammy Bolung check-called an opponent’s 3,200 bet. Bolung did the same on the turn 2 for 8,000.

The river 5 arrived prompting the CO player to move all-in after a Bolung check. Bolung called an we have a showdown:

Bolung: A Q
CO Player: A 2

Apparently, Bolung needed that river card and his opponent had to settle for a split.

Minh Nguyen Takes One Pre-Flop

Level: 25 Blinds: 100-200 Ante:

Easy win for Minh Nguyen pre-flop. Patrick Draper limped into the pot and saw Linh Tran make it to 500. From the small blind, Nguyen wanted more and made it 3,000 total. Too much for Draper and too much for Tran and Nguyen takes down the pot.

Wongwichit’s C-Bet

Pachara Wongwichit opened for 600 pre-flop and had calls from both blinds for a three-way action. The blinds checked the flop A 5 7 and Pachara continued with 700– enough to scare away both opponents.

Boone Bounces Back

Level: 5 Blinds: 100-200 Ante: 25

After losing a few in the previous level, Randy Boone has taken some back.

On a board of 3 10 3 2 and a healthy pot of roughly 10,000, a player from the hi-jack position bet 8,700 only to see a re-raise from Boone worth 17,400. The HJ player tanked for a little bit before making the fold to give Boone the huge pot.

Tuominen’s Ladies Falls to Kings

Level: 5 Blinds: 100-200 Ante: 25

A short-stacked player with less than 3,000 shoved and saw Ken Chen try to isolate him with a raise to 5,125. Eemil Tuominen would have none of it and re-popped to 10,500. Chen immediately responded with an all-in worth over 24,000 and Tuominen made the call.

Short-Stacked Player: A J
Chen: K K
Tuominen: Q Q

The flop 5 3 9 was good for Chen as well as the turn 2 though it gave the short-stacked player additional outs. It came on the river 4 as the SS player made a straight to survive in the main event. Chen has around 50,000 after this hand while Tuominen’s stack takes a major hit.
