Today’s events: Main Event Warm-Up (new) and Ante Up for Charity

Nonstop poker action continues today at the Asian Poker Tour Finale Macau 2016 with two events featured at the Crystal Palace in Casino Lisboa. The first one on the poker floor is a new APT tournament, the Main Event Warm-Up, and later in the day is the Ante Up for Charity. Also sharing the floor is the conclusion of the opening event, the Poker King Cup HKD300,000 Guaranteed.

Main Event Warm-Up

It has been common practice for the APT to introduce a new event at every poker festival. The latest addition is the Main Event Warm-Up with an entry fee of HKD7,700. Similar to the Main Event, players begin with a healthy 50,000 stack (250x the starting big blind), however the big difference is the rate at which the blinds increase. While the main goes up every hour, at the Warm-Up the blinds increase every 30 minutes. This is a two-day event with sixteen rounds of play scheduled on the first day. Cards start flying at 2pm.

Ante Up for Charity

Play poker for a cause. As soon as the sun goes down the second event of the day gets underway, the Ante Up for Charity for the benefit of the Holy House of Mercy. Game time is at 6pm. Buy-in is HKD1,500.

Poker King Cup Opening Event

The thrilling highlight of the day is the conclusion of the Poker King Cup HKD300,000 Guaranteed. There were a total of 170 entries at yesterday’s combined starting flights bringing the prize pool above the guarantee to HKD329,800. Racing to the first trophy today are 54 players with Malaysia’s Michael Chan Boon Kean coming in with the largest stack of 132,900. While 18 of them will see a payout, the eventual winner will receive the festival’s first big payout of HKD84,300. Among those still in the running are notables SJ Kim, Lim Yo Hwan, and Tetsuya Tsuchikawa. Chip counts can be found in the APT Facebook page.

Main Event Mega Satellite

The Main Event is just two days away so for those looking to get in at a lower cost, there will be a Main Event Mega Satellite at 5pm. Buy-in is HKD1,100 with one seat awarded per ten players. Many players have won seats via these satellites with some of them turning their ticket into a hefty wad of cash. Satellites will be offered leading up to the Main Event.
