Swede Magnus Karlsson is Mystery Bounty ‘Bubble Boy’; 31 players now ITM, eligible for bounty draws

PASAY CITY, Philippines – Just a little over three hours into the finale of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) 2022 Philippines (Event #1) Mystery Bounty, the bubble was officially breached when Magnus Karlsson of Sweden ran into two callers and eventually got the unenviable tag of “Bubble Boy” as his elimination guaranteed that all remaining players hit ITM and are now also eligible for bounties worth over PhP1.5M (US$26,207) at the Grand Wing Casino, Newport World Resorts here.

Karlsson was among the short stacks at his table and after a UTG+1 raise from American Peter Kiem, the Swede, who previously had two cashes in events in the Philippines, decided to shove his dwindling holdings for just a little over Kiem’s raise.

Sitting on the BB with a huge stack was former APT Player of the Series (POS) Mike Takayama who decided to come along for the ride as Kiem called.

The Flop went Q 8 3 as Takayama checked. Kiem came in for a CBet and Takayama did not take long to call and create a side pot.

The Turn was the 7 and Takayama checked again. Seeing that there was a possible made Flush on the board, Kiem checked behind.

The River produced the J as this time Takayama opened for a near pot-sized bet. After a short deliberation, Kiem folded as Takayama revealed 5 2 while Karlsson tabled A K and got booted out by the Filipino’s “Mini-Flush”.

Sweden’s Magnus Karlsson (L) watches on as he completely misses the board and becomes the “Bubble Boy” of the Mystery Bounty event

Everyone remaining is now guaranteed PhP19,400 (US$338) with the eventual champion winning PhP666,300 (US$11,599)

The first Mystery Bounty was drawn not long after by local boy Raymond Gomez for PhP17,000 (US$296) while just a few eliminations later another Filipino in Wilbert Agbuya snared the first of the three PhP259,000 (US$4,512) bounties.
