Side event winners: Qian Xubo, Linh Tran, Vincent Li, Huy Kieu, and Che Li Lin

Now that the Main Event is in the books, it’s time to congratulate the latest side event winners of APT Vietnam 2019. The past few days saw multiple players lift trophies from the awards table: Qian Xubo, Linh Tran, Vincent Li, Huy Kieu, and Che Li Lin.

Event #8: High Rollers Single Day – LINH TRAN

Only 8 signed up to the High Rollers Single Day event at VND 43,000,000 (~USD 1,900) each for a pot of VND 310,400,000 (~USD 13,400). Two players got paid. Linh Tran defeated Vincent Li at heads up to pocket the larger VND 217,280,000 (~USD 9,400). As for Li, this was his second High Rollers runner-up finish. He added VND 93,120,000 (~USD 4,000) to his earlier winnings. 

Event #9: VND 54M High Rollers – VINCENT LI

Third time was the charm for Hong Kong’s Vincent Li. After placing second at the two earlier High Rollers events of the series, he finally nailed down the third one. Originally scheduled to be a Super High Rollers event at VND 107M buy-in, the cost was brought down to VND 54,000,000 (~USD 2,300) with 31 paying up. This created a very healthy pot worth VND 1,503,500,000 (~USD 64,900) of which 6 players earned a slice. No POS points were awarded for this event.

Event #10: Short Deck – HUY KIEU

The lone Short Deck event was a popular one with 67 getting on the felt at VND 8,800,000 (~USD 380) each for a prize pool of VND 519,920,000 (~USD 22,400). 12 players grabbed a slice of the pie with Dutch player Huy Kieu banking the largest of VND 147,000,000 (~USD 6,300). This was Kieu’s first-ever APT victory.

Event #11: Pot Limit Omaha Hi – CHE LI LIN 

Running alongside the final day of the Main Event was the Pot Limit Omaha Hi that attracted 51 runners at VND 9,900,000 each for a pot of VND 445,230,000 (~USD 19,000). Only 9 of them went on to cash. China’s Che Li Lin pocketed the largest of VND 135,280,000 (~USD 5,800) for his victory. This was his first-ever live tournament title.
