HomePASAY CITY, Philippines – Two British players claimed contrasting wins in the two Side Events that played out yesterday (September 17th) at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) 2022 Philippines as Samuel Deering finally came away with his first ever APT championship while Stephen Au Yeung won his first title ever in the penultimate day of competition here at the Grand Wing Casino, Newport World Resorts.
Deering, who came close last week when he finished second in (Event #7) the Single-Day PhP65K High-Rollers, bucked a deeper field in (Event #18) the 2-day Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) for a haul of PhP318,300.00 (US$5,583.00).
The Englishman now residing in Australia has cashed in various events internationally but his two biggest paydays have come in this APT series. This also represents his seventh APT event cash.

Local boy Conrad Lumaban finished in second for PhP212,200.00 (US$3,724.00) while fellow Filipino Claude Alfred Gorno copped third for PhP147,500.00 (US$2,587.00).
Later in the evening, (Event #22) the PhP8.8k Deep Stack Turbo (DST) had the final three players agreeing to an Independent Chip Model (ICM) chop and the title eventually went to the vacationing Yeung.
The British resident claims to be an avid poker player in London and will now be recognized in the annals of global poker as an international champion.

Japan’s Takuya Ikegaya and Filipino-Norwegian Kai Danilo Paulsen tie for second.
The ICM chop denied Paulsen his 18th APT title that would have put him just three wins behind another Japanese international campaigner in Iori Yogo who currently has 21 APT titles under his belt. Englishman Sam Razavi still holds the all-time APT championship record with an astonishing 26 wins.
Today in the final day of the series, the Final 8 of the APT Championship event plays out to a champion, along with (Event #21) Day 2 of the PhP2M GTD Monster Stack competition, the finale of (Event #20) the PhP160K High-Rollers and two final events in (Event #23) the Deep Stack Hyper Turbo and (Event #24) the PhP87K High-Rollers.
