Sam Razavi Champions Cup: Invitational Tournament of Champions vs Champions

Welcome to the second day of the APT Championships Philippines 2017!

Today will see the biggest names in the Asian Poker Tour circuit take to the felt at Resorts World Manila for the day’s highlight event, the Sam Razavi Champions Cup. This is an invitational tournament with all the past champions from 2012 onwards eligible to enter. There are 448 players who qualify for this exciting event with many of them already spotted on site at yesterday’s opening event.

Sam Razavi Champions Cup Trophy

The Sam Razavi Champions Cup pays tribute to the exemplary Englishman pro who dominated the APT Player of the Year charts for four consecutive years, from 2012-2015. Players can expect a very tough field as champions face each other head on. In addition to the first place cash prize, the eventual winner will receive the stunningly gorgeous glass trophy and will of course own the bragging rights as the ultimate champion of champions.

Final Day of the APT-RWM Opening Event USD 50K Guaranteed

Running alongside the Sam Razavi Champions Cup is the final day of the APT-RWM Opening Event USD 50K Guaranteed. This highly popular event had a massive turnout of 318 entries, and at USD 275 each, this generated a juicy prize pool of USD 77,110.  The goal today for the 88 remaining players is to land that first big payout of the festival, the USD 19,050 first place purse. Entering the field as the overall chip leader is New Zealand’s Murray Poole with an arsenal of 183,200. Only 36 players will reach the money with payouts starting at USD 540. Cards are in the air at 1pm.

Ante Up for Charity, Play for a Cause

Later in the day the second side event of the festival gets underway, the Ante Up for Charity event for the benefit of the Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc. The CWF fights for kids (children/adolescents) with cancer, the survivors and their families. Come play and help generate funds for this noble advocacy. Buy-in is USD 150. A third of the prize pool will go directly to the charitable organization. Game time is at 5pm.

Main Event Mega Satellite

The Main Event is just two days away so for those looking to enter at a cheaper cost, there will be a Main Event Mega Satellite offered at 6pm tonight. This is the first of three satellites on the schedule. One seat will be awarded per ten players. Buy-in is USD 120.
