Meet the Final 8 of the APT Taiwan 2022 Main Event

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – Before the Final 8 competitors of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan 2022 Main Event clash for the title and the NT$1,440,900.00 (US$45,286.00) top prize tonight starting 7:00PM (UCT+8–with a fifteen minutes delayed broadcast over the APT Twitch channel), let’s get to know a bit about the finalists battling here at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club).

The Final 8 of the Main Event

Seat #1: Chien Fa Chou1,275,000 (5th) His first cash came in 2016 at an event in Macau and it was also in Macau where he nailed his biggest haul of over a quarter of a million US Dollars the following year. He has one title across his name–attained here at this venue in 2019–but sat out the live game during the pandemic and transitioned into the online realm where he cashed in four WSOP events. He has one cash in the APT achieved during the 2019 Monster Stack event where he finished 20th.

Seat #1: Chien Fa Chou – 1,275,000 (5th)

Seat #2Nguyen Van Dai – 2,020,000 (2nd) This Vietnamese national has been a Taipei resident for a number years already and has been quite busy in the poker scene since his first cash in 2018. In fact all his cashes have been garnered in his adopted home country but has never won a major event. He is already assured of his biggest payday for just making it to the final table (US$5,660.00), but it would be quite the feat if he can wave the flag of his home nation against a field of locals.

Seat #2: Nguyen Van Dai – 2,020,000 (2nd)

Seat #3Feng Wen Chen – 1,875,000 (4th) He has carved out quite an international career with cashes in five different countries but had been largely a grinder in the Macau circuit until 2017 and even captured a major event there with the biggest prize of his career at almost US$119,000.00. He is seeking his first APT title–and first cash since May of 2019.

Seat #3: Feng Wen Chen – 1,875,000 (4th)

Seat #4Wen Fang Po – 3,210,000 (1st) Winning his second APT trophy just a few weeks ago in the APT 2022 Philippines during one of the single-day High-Rollers (where defeated no less than eventual POS Dave Spade Erquiaga), Wen is enjoying perhaps his best year as a pro with three APT cashes in Manila and a couple of take downs in the local tournaments. He was the only Taiwanese to snare a championship in the last leg and winning this would definitely put in the elite radar.

Seat #4: Fang Po Wen – 3,210.000 (1st)

Seat #5Hao Kai Wu– 915,000 (6th) After experiencing his first cash in Macau in 2013, Wu became more serious with the game starting 2016 and has even tried campaigning in the United States and the Philippines. Among the most visible in the Taiwan tournament scene, he was the was the Day 1A chip-leader and his stack (over 36 BBs) still has many pots get involved with.

Seat #5: Wu Hao Kai – 915,000 (6th)

Seat #6: Hong Zhe Wang – 600,000 (7th) He is relatively new to the game and has had some cashes this year, but none in the magnitude he faces now. Coming into this event, Hong’s biggest payday was US$282.00 in Kaohsiung so he is in life-altering waters by being in the Final 8.

Seat #6: Hang Che Wang – 600,000 (7th)

Seat #7Guan Syun Chen – 375,000 (8th) This is his first appearance in a major event and was the chip-leader at the end of Day 1B so he has shown he has chops. Now left with just 15 BBs, he is in critical condition but anything can happen once the action begins.

Seat #7: Guan Syun Chen – 375,000 (8th)

Seat #8Zhan Shuo Guo – 2,005,000 (3rd) Like Hong, Zhan is new to the game and has only had one previous cash but that one was for almost US$1,900.00. Allegedly the youngest among the combatants, he is in prime position to get the biggest payday of his life.

Seat #8: Zhan Shuo Guo – 2,005,000 (3rd)

Good luck to the Final 8 of the APT Taiwan 2022 Main Event!
