Main Event’s last 60 eye NT$1.45M top prize, 3 more side event trophies at stake

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – After three grueling Day 1 sessions, the final cast of 60 now battle in this series’ ultimate freeze-out as only eight players will be left standing after the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan 2022 Main Event Day 2 unfurls today (2nd October) at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) here.

The 26 advancing from yesterday’s harrowing Day 1C had less than half a day to rest and prepare for today’s grind that will eliminate 52 runners en route to the Final 8 that will reconvene here tomorrow for a shot at a place in history.

While now all guaranteed NT$24,200.00 (US$764.00), the mission is to snare the NT$1,451,800.00 (US$45,630.00) grand prize and the trophy to join the likes of local boy He Zong Chi, Zhou Yue Yang of China, New Zealand’s Hamish Crawshaw and WSOP Ring winner Kitty Kuo in the elite circle of APT Taiwan Main Event victors.

With Kuo busting out yesterday, a new titlist will emerge from the remaining aspirants, who are led by Day 1C chip-leader Andy Liu with 667,000 closely followed by Day 1B top-notcher Guan Syun Chen with 655,000. Wu Hao Kai, who sat atop the leaderboard at the end of Day 1A, is presently in third overall with 579,000 while Wei Chen Chen and Kuo Li Wei occupy fourth and fifth places with 521,000 and 486,000, respectively.

Andy Liu (TWN) carries the overall chip-lead into Day 2 of the Main Event
