Main Event guarantee shattered by 5th level, entries approaching century mark anew

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – While the buy-in price of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Main Event has returned to its original rate of NT$16,500.00 (US$519.00), that has not deterred poker aficionados from descending upon what has long been considered the Mecca of poker in this country as almost a hundred entries have already been recorded for Day 1B, in the process obliterating the guaranteed prize pool of NT$3M (US$94,374.00) as the action continues to heat up at the here at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club).

Day 1A drew 139 entries and here in Day 1B was when the news became official that the number of entries has now put the guaranteed prize pool (currently) at NT$3,346,500.00 (now over US$105,000.00). The guarantee was surpassed midway through Level 5.

As of this writing (Level 7) 92 entries have been accounted for and more are still lining up to dive into the trenches for their chance to join the 17 individuals that made it through from yesterday’s initial salvo.

Registration for Day 1B closes at 7:30PM (UCT+8).

Sofia Lovgren Fullmer (SWE), who finished third in the APT Philippines 2022 Main Event has joined the fray in Day 1B

Local veteran Wu Hao Kai led those who advanced from Day 1A with a massive chip stack of 579,000.

Meanwhile, two single-day side events are also running alongside the Main Event in (Event #6) the Super Deep Stack Turbo (S-DST) that has thus far attracted a total of 81 entries, and (Event #6) the second of three NT$27k (US$850.00) single-day High-Rollers–the first of which was taken down yesterday by APT Taiwan Main Event champion He Zong Chi for NT$663,500.00 (US$20,910.00).

The satellite for Day 1c of the Main Event, the 1-in-5 (meaning there’s a seat guaranteed for each participant for every five who join), is also underway for a buy-in of just NT$3,600.00 (US$113.00).
