Main Event Day 1B registration closes at 140 entries, GTD prize pool now at over NT$4M

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – The guaranteed prize pool of the 2022 Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan Main Event has now ballooned to over NT$4M (US$125,871.00) as 140 entries came in for Day 1B with Day 1C (traditionally having the largest attendance) yet to come as more and more seek a piece of the action at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) here.

That brings the total entries to 278, already toppling last year’s competition wherein in 179 battled for the title. The record for most entries in this country is 523 during the 2019 edition of the series and while that number may not seem to be in danger of being overtaken at this point, anything can still happen with an influx expected for a shot at perhaps the most prestigious trophy of them all.

At present, the remaining runners will play down to 17 players thus crossing the ITM threshold. During Day 1A, that task was accomplished past 2:00AM.

Day 1C commences tomorrow (1st October) at precisely 1:00PM (UCT+8).

Unlike previous incarnations of the Main Event, there will be no last chance registration allowed on Day 2 which is on Sunday (2nd October).

Meanwhile, (Event #6) the Super Deep Stack Turbo (S-DST) had local bet Yutang Wang continuing his hot streak here by prevailing over 81 entrants and capture his first APT title . Wang, who had won his previous two local tournaments in August, also came away with NT$63,100.00 (US$1,986.00).

Yu Chi Liu–who was the unfortunate Bubble Boy during the recently concluded (Event #1) Mystery Bounty, found redemption of sorts in his second place finish for NT$42,000.00 (US$1,322.00) while Sun Chen Chou got third for NT$29,400.00 (US$925.00).

The (Event #7) second NT$27k (US$850.00) High-Rollers is down to its last nine competitors from a total of 23 entries and should finish at about the same time Day 1B does.
