Great call by Hai Chuot sends Oeystein Nordii out

On a turn board of 5 9 Q 2 and over 500K in the pot, small blind position Oeystein Nordii shoved sending Hai Chuot tanking for some time. Though Chuot had a bigger stack, it wasn’t by much. He eventually mustered up the guts to call and after seeing Nordii’s A J, he was happy to have made the right choice with his 10 10. The river 3 ensured the victory and Nordii was out while Chuot climbed to 2M.


Minh Le ends Hoeld’s day

The hand after Lien Kang Feng chunked down Johannes Felix Hoeld was the last for the German. He had his remaining chips in with two players, Devesh Thapar and Minh Le, looking to send him out. On a flop 2 5 10, Le checked, Thapar bet 48k, Le raised to 133k, and took the side pot with Thapar folding.

Hoeld opened 7 5 and Le had 8 8. The turn Q and river J followed to send Hoeld out in 14th place. We are down to 13 players.


Lien Kang Feng gets the best of Johannes Hoeld

With action folding all the way to the button, Lien Kang Feng raised to 50k and Johannes Felix Hoeld defended on the big blind. At the flop A 4 K, Hoeld checked, Lien c-bet 55k, and Hoeld called. On the 10 turn, both checked and got a free river 8. Hoeld switched up and led for 201k, leaving himself 58k behind. Lien shoved his overwhelming big stack and Hoeld with the quick fold. Lien showed his Q J straight.

Lien now at 1.5M. He is running second rank to Trun Duc Phuong. With just under 2M.

Nguyen Van Dung eliminated by Dang Xuan Canh

The day’s entering chip leader, Nguyen Van Dung, has been eliminated from the Main Event only reaching a deep 15th place. The player that sent him crashing out was Dang Xuan Canh.

Just before Dang dealt the blow to Van Dung, he lost a pot to Nguyen Thanh Nha with 9-9 outdrawn by Thanh Nha’s A-K with a king showing up on the board. Several hands later, Van Dung shoved with A Q and Dang called with J J. The race ended with no hits for Van Dung sending him out.


Dang Xuan Canh lands a full house

Dang Xuan Cang called defended his big blind calling Johannes Hoeld’s 35k preflop raise. At the flop Q 5 3, Dang checked, Hoeld bet 31k, and Dang with the flat-call. On the K turn and K river, no bets came and Dang opened his 3 3 full house.


Cooler sends Son Putin down and Tran Duc Phuong to over 2M

After quietly building his stack throughout the day, in one big hand, Son Putin took a dive. As many have experienced at the table, it was one of those coolers. Action began with Tran Duc Phuong raising to 38k, Putin three-bet to 128k, Tran four-bet to 350k, Putin shoved, and snap-call by Tran.

The board ran 2 J 3 10 8 and it was a massive double up for Tran who had over 1.1M in chips. He is now the chip leader with over 2.2M.

A few hands later, Putin was all in with his short stack holding A-8 and was up against Hai Chuot with K-K. The flop saw an ace grace the felt but with a king showing up on the river, it ended Putin’s run at the Main Event.


Tran Duc Phuong vs Choong Kian Weng

In three-way raised pot preflop, the dealer felted 10 6 3. Action was checked to button Tran Duc Phuong who slid out 40k. Only Choong Kian Weng called. On the 4 turn, Choong check-called and 88k bet from Tran and the river landed K. Choong checked again, Tran bet 200k, and he won it with Choong surrendering his hand.


Nguyen Trung Hieu doubles up through Alex Lee
