Final 8 formed!

With the fall of Nguyen Hoanh Trang it was bagging time with the final 8 players determined. Chip counts are below. We will have a recap for you shortly. Nguyen Hoanh Trang will not be joining tomorrow’s race to the title. He was the shortest stacked at the final table for a majority of the last few hands and wasn’t able to rise out of the hole. After Lien Kang Feng raised to 130k, Nguyen tossed his remaining short stack in, and Vu Duc Trung joined in for a three-way to the flop.

The flop felted K 10 9, no bets came. On the Q turn, Trung led for 200k and Lien called to further beef up the side pot. On the 6 river, Trung slid out another bet but took it back with Lien quickly folding.

With the fall of Choong Kian Weng in 10th place, we are just one elimination away from forming the Final 8. Tzu Chieh Lo is currently the leader with 3M in chips. Dang Xuan Canh is in second rank with 2.1M.

The lone APT champion Choong Kian Weng could not bring home a second title having just been railed in 10th place. Immediately after doubling up Vu Duc Trung, Chung shoved on the small blind and big blind Dang Xuan Canh called.

The board drew blanks once again, running 5 7 A 9 J and win slightly more in Dang’s artillery, Weng was eliminated. He earned VND 157,990,000 for his deep run.

After dropping very low in chips in the previous hand, Vu Duc Trung shoved twice. He won the blind and antes on the first one but got called by Choong Kian Weng on the second shove.

The board bricked and Trung doubled up to 890k while Choong fell to 1M.


Tzu Chieh Lo into the 3 Million range

Level: 28 Blinds: 25000-50000 Ante: 5000

Tzu Chieh Lo just took down two sizable pots to take over the leader’s position as he crossed into the 3 million range. The first hand saw a raised pot preflop between the blinds Tran Duc Phuong and Lo. The flop landed K 6 J, Tran checked, Lo bet 155k, and Tran called. On the 6 turn, both checked. On the 7 river, Tran called Lo’s 425k bet. Lo showed K J for top two pair.

Next scoop, on a flop 7 K 9, sb Minh Le checked, bb Vu Duc Trung checked, button Lo bet 90k. Both players called and the turn landed 6. Everyone checked. On the J river, action was checked to Lo who slid out 400k. Le folded but Trung called after tanking. Lo opened Q 10 for a straight. Trung mucked. Trung dropped to 300k.

Minh Le kicked off the action with a raise to 100k. He was called by button Lien Kang Feng and big blind Ngueyn Hoanh Trang, the shortest stack at the table. At the flop K 8 3, everyone checked. On the 7 turn, Nguyen led for 150k and got called only by Le. On the river 10, Nguyen checked, Le bet 150k, and it was enough to get the call from Nguyen. Le had A Q nut flush to win the beefy pot while shaving down Nguyen to just 300k.


Dang Xuan Canh takes a hit

Level: 28 Blinds: 25000-50000 Ante: 5000

Dang Xuan Canh has been the most active player this round. He called a raise by Hai Chuot of 100k and watched the flop come 7 10 10. Dang checked, Chuot bet 100k, and was called. On the turn J, action was the same with a 300k bet called. Then on the river Q, both checkd; Dang had 6 6 that was way behind Chuot’s A J higher pair.

Dang Xuan Canh claimed another pot to bring him up to 1.6M. From utg, he raised to 100k and got called by Lien Kang Feng. At the flop 2 4 Q, he c-bet 75k and Lien called. On the 10 turn, he slid out a bet but before the count was made, Lien folded.
