Championships Event Day 2 is done and dusted with 35 players remaining. We will have the chip counts for you shortly along with a recap. Congratulations to all of the day’s survivors. They return on Saturday, June 18 at noon to race to the money and to a Final 8 seat. For some of the day’s thrilling action, scroll through the live updates.
A big pot was brewed on the last hand of table 32. On a board Q♥ 9♣ Q♣ J♣ 3♦ and 120k in the middle, big blind Son Hoang checked, late position Hajime Murase bet 90k, back to Hoang who tanked for so long, he used up four time banks each worth a minute each. He eventually found the courage to call and it was the right one. Murase quickly mucked even before Hoang showed J♦ 10♠ two pair. Hoang’s tablemates were quite shocked to see just two pair. Hoang closed the day with over 500k. We will have the official count shortly.
On a raised preflop flop that built 52k, the flop ran K♥ 9♦ 7♣. Action was checked to hijack David Erquiaga who bet 15k, small blind Alex Lindop called, big blind Nguyen Manh Hung raised to 50k, Erquiaga tanked then folded. Lindop quickly followed.
On a turn board 5♠ K♠ 2♠ 6♣ and 140k in the middle, utg David Erquiaga bet the pot only to face a shove by Dinh Tien Thanh. This sent the big stacked Erquiaga to the think tank then opted not to toss in the extra 260k.
Rijad Hasani has been chipping up all day and recently added to his stack by railing two players. He eliminated Keith Ong and then Jinichi Kubo. He is now at 450k.
From late position, Dinh Duc Linh raised to 13k, beside him Nguyen Van Sang called, joined by the small blind Le Anh Minh. At the flop 5♠ 2♣ Q♥, two players checked, Nguyen test bet 15k, Le check-raised to 33k, Dinh three-bet jammed, no takers.
A couple of hands saw heavy bets preflop to take it down without seeing a board. At table 21, Dzung Chu raised to 13k, Macaron Tran three-bet to 32k, button Robert Kiss four-bet all in, much too much, no callers.
At table 20, same action. Ankit Jajodia raised to 12k, Teddy Pham three-bet to 32k, Dinh Van Tien four-bet to 85k, no takers. Dinh up to 425k.
Players are on their last break of Day 2. 41 players remaining with average stack at 263,414. Currently leading is David Erquiaga with 828k followed by Tran Huy Hoang aka Louis Tran with 680k.
When they return, they play one final level before bagging up. Most likely the money won’t be reached with 22 paid.
