Action began with Hendrik Appel from the utg raising it up to 8500. He was called by the blinds, Norbert Koh and Choi Young Su. At the flop of 3♥ K♣ 4♣, action was checked to the raiser Appel who bet 10500 only to get popped to 29500 by Koh. Su folded and after a short decision making time, Appel folded as well. Koh earned a nice pot to add to his stack.
Several hands later, Koh claimed another decent pot. Koh raised to 8500 from the button seat and was called by Appel on the big blind. At the flop of Q♦ A♦ 10♠, Appel checked to Koh who continued with a bet that quickly had Appel folding.
On the very next hand, Koh raised 8500 again and Samad Razavi defended his blinds with a call. At the flop of 3♠ Q♦ A♦, Razavi checked to Koh who wasted no time betting it out and slid 11000 in front of him. Razavi called. Then on the turn of Q♦, Razavi checked once more and Koh banged out 17500. Razavi folded.
The first big stack battle at the table was between Peter Nguyen and Sunny Zhang. After a pre flop raise, both players saw flop land 6♠ 4♥ Q♥. Nguyen checked from the sb seat to Zhang who bet 7000. Nguyen called. At the turn of 7♥, Nguyen checked again, Zhang bet 16000, and Nguyen folded. Zhang won the pot.
Ben Abrahams got his remaining 2000 chips in the middle and was in a hand against Peter Nguyen and Erik Billgren. With a raised pot pre flop, the board ran 2♦ J♦ 7♦ and Billgren led for 15000 into the side pot. Nguyen raised it up to 33000, and Billgren called. At the turn of 7♥, both checked. Then on the river of 3♣, Billgren led for 40000 and Nguyen called. Billgren won the hand with 2♣ 2♥ full house of Nguyen’s A♦ 10♦ nut flush. Abrahams held 5♣ 6♥.
Abrahams bows out in 15th place and earns $2,400 for his finish at the APT Main Event.
Jereld Sam and Ben Abrahams, both with roughly the same amount of chips, were all in against each other with Sam holding 3♦ 3♣ and Abrahams with A♦ Q♠ (the same hand as when he doubled up vs Tarktak). Unlike previous, the board bricked and Sam’s pair held up. Sam is now up to 12000 while Abrahams fell to 2000.
After having just doubled up Choi Young Su in a previous hand, Kwan Kit Kwok was all in with 9♥ 8♥ and had to get lucky against Norbert Koh’s A♠ K♥. With the board landing A♣ 3♥ A♥, Koh moved further ahead wit trips but Kwok now had a flush draw. Then the board slapped a 7♥ on the board giving Kwok his flush. With the river of 5♦, Kwok won the hand and doubled up.
Kwan Kit Kwok called Choi Young Su’s all in pre flop of 39500. Su had A♦ K♥ against Kwok’s 9♥ 9♠. With the board flipping K♣ K♦ 8♠, Su was clearly way ahead, and with the turn of 2♦ and river of 8♥, he connected with a boat and doubled up to over 80000 chips.
Ben Abrahams got his remaining short stack of around 20000 in the middle and got a little bit of protection from Paul Tartak who three-bet all in as well. With everyone else folding, it was a showdown.
Tartak: 10♦ 10♥
Abrahams: A♦ Q♥
With the board running, 8♦ Q♦ 2♠ 2♣ 3♥, Abrahams doubled up to over 60000.
Norbert Koh has just eliminated the third player at his table. Siang Teck Lee had A♣ K♥ but was not good enough against Koh’s A♥ A♦. With the board running blanks for Lee, he ended the day in 16th place.
Lee earns $2,200 for his 16th place finish.
Wen Ling Gao entered the day with at the bottom of the rung and hoped to double up in order to slowly get back in the game. Unfortunately, her attempt was foiled by Kwan Kit Kwok.
Gao: A♣ J♦
Kwok: 9♣ 9♣
Board: 8♥ 6♠ 6♦ 4♠ 8♣
