Jereld Sam climbing

Level: 18 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

After eliminating Peter Nguyen, Jereld Sam is clearly the chip leader with around 220000 chips. He added more to that powerhouse arsenal in a hand against Peter Tartak. It began with Sam raising to 15000 from the utg seat, was called by Bryan Huang, was three-bet to 45000 by Tartak, and after a minute or so, Sam called while Huang folded. The board ran 3 8 J and both players quietly checked to each other. At the turn of K action was checked to Sam who bet but before we could get a count, Tartak mucked. Sam climbs to around 270000 chips.


Nguyen eliminated in 13th place by Sam – (13th – $2,400)

Peter Nguyen may have been the monster stack coming into Day 3 but after losing out on some small pots and then getting chunked down by Sunny Zhang, his day came to an immediate halt in a hand against Jereld Sam. It began with Nguyen raising to 11500 and Sam called. At the flop, 7 6 8, Nguyen shoved for around 67000 and Sam quickly called.

Nguyen: A 6

With the turn of A and river of 9, Nguyen was eliminated in 13th place. Nguyen takes home $2,400 for his finish at the APT Vietnam Main Event.


Nguyen tries to bluff Zhang

Level: 18 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

After losing several small pots around the felt, small blind Peter Nguyen just lost a big one against big blind Sunny Zhang. Catching the action at the flop of 4 J A and a pot of 28000 already weighing down the middle, Nguyen bet 12000 and Zhang called. At the turn of 10, Nguyen continued and bet 44000. Zhang called. Then on the river of 10, Nguyen laid out a 50000 bet and was called again by Zhang. Zhang won with his J 3 against Nguyen’s 2 8 bluff.


Bryan Huang vs Sunny Zhang

Level: 18 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

With a raised pot pre flop before them and a board of 4 6 5, Huang bet 24500 only to see Zhang raise it to 60000. Huang smooth-called and they went to see a turn of 7. Huang announced all in for 46000 and Zhang relinquished his hand. Huang takes down a nice one which brings him to just under 200000.

Level: 18 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

With a raised pot pre flop before them and a board of 4 6 5, Huang bet 24500 only to see Zhang raise it to 60000. Huang smooth-called and they went to see a turn of 7. Huang announced all in for 46000 and Zhang relinquished his hand. Huang takes down a nice one which brings him to just under 200000.


Hendrik Appel exits in 14th place – (14th- $2,400)

Level: 18 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

After losing a pot to Choi Young Su, Hendrik Appel eventually got all his chips in the middle and was called by Kwan Kit Kwok. At the showdown, Kwok was ahead with 10 10 and Appel with A J. The board offered no help the Appel as it ran Q 7 4 2 9. Appel bows out in 14th place and earns $2,400 for his finish at the Main Event.


Appel doubles up Su

Level: 18 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 500

With the blinds just up, Hendrik Appel kicked off the betting by raising to 11500 and action folded around the table to Choi Young Su who three-bet all-in to 72000. After tanking, Appel called and they revealed their cards.

Su: A K

Appel: 10[10s}

Board: 7 J 5 6 A

With Su connecting with a higher pair, Su doubled up to around 145000.


Raise wars

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Here are some pre flop action that never made it to the flop….

David Steicke raised double to 8000, was called by Erik Billgren, then three-bet to 30000 by Sunny Zhang. Zhang took it down as both players folded.

Kamran Siddiqui raised to 8000 from the button but was re-raised all in by Kwan Kit Kwok on the small blind. Siddiqui opted to fold.

 


A sizable pot for Huang

Level: 17 Blinds: 2000-4000 Ante: 500

Bryan Huang raised it up to 8500 from under the gun and was called by Erik Billgren, Peter Nguyen, and Sunny Zhang. With a nice pot already in the middle, the flop landed K Q 3. Action was checked by Zhang to Huang who dropped in 17000. Everyone opted to fold and Huang took down a sizable pot without much of a fight.
