APT-RWM Poker Finale 2014 Main Event

Takayama loses to Chow

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Mike Takayama must be the bank at his table because he has just doubled up another player, this time Mun Fei Chow. After losing to Lim Choon Kwang in the previous hand, Takayama raised from mid position to 1200 and was called by Kwang and Chow. The flop ran 7 3 10. Chow checked, Takayama bet 2400, Kwang folded, and Chow check-raised all in for a total of 19500. Takayama snap-called and it was a showdown. Takayama was not happy to see Chow’s K 2 against his 6 4. With the turn card of Q and river 2, Chow scooped a sweet double up.

Kwang doubles up through Takayama

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Lim Choon Kwang just chunked a portion of Mike Takayama’s stack with his A A reigining victorious on a board that ran 3 10 4 7 5. Kwang doubled up and is now over 50K chips.

Nguyen surrenders to Bringley

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Gerard Bringley and Hoang Ton Nguyen have been in the same table for most of the day and at times they found themselves tangled in a pot. In a hand that we caught at the flop of 2 3 6, Bringley on the big blind checked to early position player Nguyen who bet 1500. A player from mid position folded, the db player called, and Bringley check-called. At the turn of Q, Bringley checked to Nguyen again who banged out 3500, the db player decided to get out of the action, but Bringley did the opposite, he check-raised to make it 8800 total. After tanking, Nguyen gave up his stab at the pot and surrendered his hand.

Michele Ferrari Zooms with Rockets

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Michele Ferrari faced a 4,000 bet from an opponent seated across the table on a board of 10 5 5 4. He thought for a bit before making the call.

The river 10 arrived and the original bettor continued his story– something Ferrari didn’t believe in as he quickly made the call.

Ferrari: A A
Ferrari’s opponent: 9 9

Ferrari was correct and scooped the nice pot.

Post-Dinner Bust Out Courtesy of Kiwi Brent Schlaadt

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Brent Schlaadt of New Zealand opened the action pre-flop with a 1,325 bet but an opponent sitting beside him made it 3,500, which the Kiwi easily called.

Schlaadt fired another 6,000 on the flop 7 8 2 and his opponent responded by shoving his stack. Schlaadt tabled his A 8 and made the call only to be shown the bad news by the opponent’s pocket queens.

No change on the turn 10 but it did give the New Zealander additional outs– a diamond would give him a runner-runner flush. No diamond on the river but it was an 8 for trips– good enough to beat the ladies of the opponent, who couldn’t believe at the turn of events.

Schlaadt climbed to around 35,000 after the hand.

Dinner Break

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

We are now at a dinner break. There are 69 players left in the field. Be right back!

Sam Nee vs Michael Falcon

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

Sam Nee shaved off a little bit of Michael Falcon’s stack in a hand that began with everyone folding to Nee who sat on the button. Nee raised double to 800, sb Eric Sia folded, but Falcon on the big blind took on the challenge. At the flop of 9 10 8, Falcon checked to Nee who bet 1800. Falcon check-raised to make it 4000 which Nee quickly called. At the turn of 2, Falcon led out 10000 big ones which Nee tank-called. Then on the river of 2, Falcon checked to Nee who announced all in. Falcon frustratingly mucked.

Fu-Bang Huang Doubles Up Before Dinner Break

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

Andrew Gaw opened the action preflop with a 1,000 bet and saw a caller in Fu-Bang Huang. Another player made it 3,500 however and that prompted other players to fold. Except for Huang, who shoved his stack and added some 12,000 more.

Huang’s opponent: A K
Huang: 10 10

The board 3 3 5 8 4 was totally harmless to Huang, who doubles-up to over 30,000 before dinner break.
