Whoa! Nehmee Alegado gets Tanaka to fold kings

Level: 11 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 2000

 

Crazy hand just went down between Masatoshi Tanaka (hj) and Nehmee Alegado (db). Action began with a raise war that lead to Tanaka’s four-bet called by Alegado. On the flop 2 2 10, Tanaka led out 40k, Alegado shoved. Alegado had Tanaka well covered. Tanaka tanked for a few minutes then folded and showed K-K. Alegado returned the gesture and showed 6-6. Ouch!

Alegado climbed to around 340k. Tanaka down to 72k.


Yuka Asaka rails SJ Kim

Level: 11 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 2000

A decorated APT champion has just been ousted here with Soo Jo Kim ousted by Yuka Asaka. On a raised pot preflop and three players in, the flop ran 4 9 7. Big blind Kim checked, utg Ghanem bet 5k, cutoff Asaka called, Kim raised to 18k, Ghanem folded, Asaka three-bet to 45k, and Kim moved it all in the middle. Asaka called.

The turn J and river 3 were no help to Kim and he was eliminated. Asaka climbed to 270k.


Wilson Lim doubles up through Ghanem

Level: 11 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 2000

Michel Ghanem just doubled up a very dangerous player, Wilson Lim. The board had completed to K 2 7 A 6 with progressive bets throughout. On the river, Lim moved all in and Ghanem called. Lim showed A A for a set. Ghanem mucked.

Tamon Nakamura (2nd place APT Korea Incheon) raised to 4500, En Ching Wu three-bet to 14k, Nakamura four-bet 34k, Wu folded.

At a separate table, Marc Rivera raised to 4500, Jun Yi Ong three-bet to 11k, Shyh Chyn Lim all in, no callers.


Shinji Koharma continues to rake in chips

Moved to a new table, Shinji Koharma scooped up another nice pot. On a raised pot preflop and the cards landing 9 5 A, cutoff Lester Edoc bet 3k, button Koharma raised to 8k, small blind check-called, and back to Edoc who opted to fold. On the 5 turn, action was checked to Koharma. He bet 12.5k and won the pot.


Joshua Chargualaf leads with 345k

Level: 11 Blinds: 1000-2000 Ante: 2000

Gabriel Carter lost a pot to Lim Yo Hwan to send his stack to the 200k range. The current leader is now Joshua Chargualaf with 345k with 67 players remaining.


Aggressive bets by Shinji Koharma

Level: 10 Blinds: 1000-1500 Ante: 1500

Shinji Koharma went head to head against two-time champion Mike Takayama for a pot that he raised to 3500. Takayama and Day 1A chip leader Jun Yi Ong called. The flop J 9 5, Ong checked, Koharma c-bet 6500, Takayama called, and Ong bowed out. On the 4 turn, Koharma fired another 8500, and this time he took it with no challenge from Takayama. Koharma up to 130k. Takayama sits with around 25k.

Among the late entries included two-time APT champion Mike Takayama and APT champion Soo Jo Kim.


Gabriel Carter currently leads with 360k

Level: 10 Blinds: 1000-1500 Ante: 1500

We were just walking around the room to check on who the leaders were and perfect timing, Gabriel Carter railed Keon Yong Ma to chip up to 360k. The hand saw a heavy pot pre-brewed and a flop 4 A 7. Small blind Keon bet 15k, button Carter raised to 75k, Keon shoved, and Carter tossed in the fast call.

The turn 3 and river 5 improved them both but Carter had the better spread to ship in all of Keon’s chips.

Other chip leaders are Lester Edoc with over 320k and Joshua Chargualaf with just over 300k.
