On the turn of J♣, they both checked. Then with the river of 8♦, Seitaro took a stab by laying out 700 and Chong called. Seitaro had a nice hand A♥ K♥, but since it missed the board, Chong won the pot with his A♦ 5♥ bottom pair.

While players get warmed up, picking up small pots here and there, several notables need mentioning. Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa jumped right into the Main Event after bowing out in third place at the Head Hunter event; Korea’s SJ Kim and Norway’s Kai Paulsen share the table with Tsuchikawa; Canadian pro Linh Tran and Malaysia’s Victor Chong are also in the field; while current APT Player of the Year 2016 leader, Japanese pro Iori Yogo sits at one of the outer tables. We’d also like to acknowledge the Spartan Poker APT Main Event package winner Vikram Kumar from India who is at the felt getting in some early action.

The cards are in the air and that means, the Main Event Bubble Protection is now closed. There were 15 players who qualified. This is certainly one of the best incentives introduced by the APT this year, awarding the bubble player a consolation prize of one free seat to the next APT Main Event of the same value. This incentive was first awarded to Korea’s SJ Kim who bubbled in January.
