Late Steals

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Kodai Ishihara took full advantage of the “Last 5 Hands” of Day 1B betting a big one (6,500) on a flop of 7 2 J K against Czardy Rivera, who had a shorter stack.

Rivera tanked then eventually folded to give the big pot to Ishihara, who climbed to over 63,000 after the hand.

Rivera and some in the table asked Ishihara, “What did you have? King?”

“Queens,” quickly answered the Japanese.

Hyeong Wook shoves for the win

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

With everyone folding to one end of the felt, Choi Hyeong Wok raised it up to 1200 from the cutoff seat, was called by the button player, followed by another call from the sb Flo Camponanes, then a reraise to 5500 by the bb player which cued Hyeong Wook to shove all his chips in. Though the db tanked for a while, he eventually folded as did Camponanes and the bb. Hyeong Wook took it down without a challenge.

Muratov steals a big pot away from Anh

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Anvar Muratov isn’t afraid of the big stacked Do Hoang Anh. With a hefty pile already weighing down the middle of the felt, the raise war between and Anh and Muratov continued with Anh 3-betting another 5500 only to be answered by Muratov with a 4-bet of an additional 6000. Anh eventually folded and Muratov was awarded a pot of around 24000 without even a single show of cards.

Victor Chong vs Michael Marvanek

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Victor Chong and Michael Marvanek tangled in two hands almost back to back that crippled Marvanek down to low denomination chips. In the first hand, Marvanek raised to 1100 in mid position then got reraised to 2500 by Chong who was to his immediate left. After action folded around the table, Marvanek called and the flop dropped J 9 4. Marvanek checked, Chong bet 1800, and Marvanek called. At the turn of 2, Marvanek checked again, Chong shoved for his remaining 7375, and Marvanek decided not to call giving Chong the pot.

Shortly after, we caught the dealer counting out Chong’s chips after having just won with his A J straight against Marvanek who held Q Q set on a board showing K 10 Q 3 5. Marvanek crippled down to around 5000.

Tran Doubles

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Linh Tran bet 3,500 on a board of K 10 A 3 with just two players in the hand. The opponent called to bring the river 7. This time, Tran bet it all shoving his final 11,075…

The opponent tanked for a good 3 minutes before making the call…

Tran tabled K 10 for two pairs and the opponent helplessly mucked his hand. Tran is back on track with over 33,000 now.

Marquez Adds Some More

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

With three limpers behind him, Richard Marquez raised to 1,300 forcing two players to fold as the other called.

Flop: 8 7 2

A board Marquez liked as he fired  a C-bet of 1,575… Enough to force the fold. The Filipino has now over 59,000 in chips, most likely among the leaders so far today.

Chen Again!

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

A hand after his rockets shot down kings, Eric Chen was back at it against another opponent.

The opponent raised 800 preflop and Chen called to bring the flop Q J 2. The opponent fired another 1,100 and this time, Chen answered back with a raise to 3,000. The opponent called.

Both players checked the turn Q and it was Chen who bet first on the river J with 3,500. This sent Chen’s opponent to the tank… and all the while speculating loudly what Chen had…

“You have jack-queen…”

The opponent eventually folded to give Chen the big pot. Chen, being nice and all, showed his opponent that his speculation was correct flashing Q J.

Not bad a read for the opponent and not bad a fold. Chen has now over 48,000 after this hand.

Huang loses some to Lane

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

With no prior action before him, Bryan Huang raised to 1175 from the sb seat and bb Gregory Lane matched him to see a flop of 8 6 3. Acting first, Huang led out for 1700 and was smooth-called by Lane. At the turn of 9, Huang continued with a follow up bet of 3700 which Lane again flatted. Then on the river of 10, Huang decided to slow down and check, Lane checked right back. Huang showed K 2 which was no good against Lane’s 6 6 set.
