After another grueling day at the felt, Day 2 of the Main Event has ended with 35 players making the cut into Day 3. Leading with 303,000 is Annie Bordallo from Guam followed by Mikal Blomlie from Norway with 286,000. See you all tomorrow at 1pm as we play down to the final table of 8 players.
Ziyang Zhao opened for 6,000 and saw callers from the button (Jojo Tech) and the big blind.
On the flop 5♥ 3♣ K♠, Tech led out for 10,000 getting the call from the BB player and forcing Zhao to fold.
Both remaining players checked the turn A♥ and Tech added 26,000 more on the river J♦. The BB player folded to give Tech the nice pot late.
Henrick Tollefsen bet 6,000 preflop and saw Ziyang Zhao re-pop it to 12,000. Tollefsen called to bring the flop Q♦ 10♠ 10♣.
Zhao led out with another 12,000 and quickly Tollefsen folded his hand.
In the very next hand, Tollefsen did the same: bet 6K preflop, an opponent re-raised to 12.K and the dealer flopped 4♣ 8♥ 4♦. The opponent led out again (a bigger 21K this time) and again Tollefsen just did not see the flop he wanted and folded his hand.
Annie Bordallo faced off against Jerry Lai twice and both times she seized the pot to rise over 300K. In the first hand, Sin Young Choi raised it up to 8000 and was called by Bordallo, Lai, and Vincent Torres. At the flop of 6♦ 10♥ 9♣, Bordallo bet 12000, was raised to 24000 by Lai, while Torres and Choi folded. Expelling no energy thinking, Bordallo calmly reraised Lai to 39000. Lai folded.
In the subsequent hand, Bordallo raised to 8000 and got a customer in Lai. At the flop of K♣ 4♥ 6♣, Bordallo bet 13000, got raised to 26000 by Lai, so she made the call. On the turn of A♠, Bordallo continued to lead, this time for 23000 and Lai gave up and folded.
With a min raise initiated preflop, four players saw a board of 6♦ 10♣ 4♣. Action checked to the utg player, Jerry Lai who bet 9500 and getting one customer in Vincent Torres. At the turn of 8♥, Lai checked which Torres used to send out 11000. Lai called. Then on the river of 10♠, Lai led out 18000, Torres announced all in for 53500 total, and Lai called. Torres won the pot with his 8♣ 8♠ full house as Lai grimaced in disbelief.
Noda Hiroyuki started the hand by limping in the utg seat and watched as action got heavy around the table with Bryan Huang raising to 8000 then Tetsuya Tsuchikawa reraising to 19500. Hiroyuki wasted no time and went all in for 48500 forcing Huang to eventually fold. With action at Tsuchikawa, he called and their hole cards were revealed with Hiroyuki holding Q♥ Q♠ against Tsuchikawa’s 9♣ 9♠. The board was no help to Tsuchikawa and Hiroyuki doubled up to over 100K chips.
Not long after doubling up Ziyang Zhao, Peter Kleudgen moved all in for 37500 and Blomlie snap-called. Blomlie had 7♣ 7♦ against Kleudgen’s Q♦ 9♠. The board was kind to Kleudgen Q♠ A♥ 3♦ K♠ 3♣ and he too doubled up happily.
Mikal Blomlie tried to bully Ziyang Zhao out of a pot but Zhao was ready to battle with him. During the hand Zhao raised double to 6000 and got reraised by Blomlie all in. Zhao tap danced with him by shoving his 66500 chips in. Zhao had A♥ Q♠ and Blomlie with 10♣ 8♠. With the board running J♠ 4♠ Q♣ A♦ 8♣, Zhao seized a sweet double up to almost 140000.
