In a battle of the blinds, Julius Malzanini and Byeongcheol Kim were in a heated hand that we saw on the river betting. The board was 9♥ 5♥ Q♠ Q♣ 10♠ with a pot of 5500 in the middle. Malzanini bet 5175 and Kim raised to 15,500. This sent Malzanini tanking for some time until the clock was finally called. He made the call and they flipped open their cards. Malzanini had Q♦ 7♦ and Kim had Q♥ 6♥ for a split pot.
Another short stack finds new life. Greg Sanchez pushed all in with his 5975 stack and Gerard Bringley called having initially raised to 1375. Bringley had A♥ K♣ and Sanchez had K♦ K♠. The board ran 9♥ 8♥ 8♣ 8♦ 10♠ giving Sanchez a full house and a much needed pump up.
Glancing over at table 3, we caught Simba heating up the action at his table. It started with a limp by Gerald Casey, then Simba raised to a massive 3150. Action folded all around back to Casey who called. The flop landed 3♠ 7♠ 8♠ and Casey checked to Simba. A bet of 4500 slid out of Simba’s stack and with that, Casey folded.
A couple of short stacks avoid elimination and find themselves scooping a nice double up. Kevin Hii was all in with 7k left. He was called by BJ Perez. Hii had K♦ J♣ and Perez had him dominated with A♠ K♣. The board was kind to Hii as it ran Q♣ 9♣ 2♥ J♠ 7♣. Hii doubled up but still not out of the danger zone.
Another one to get a stack boost was Euryd Rivera. He was all in with 17,950 and was called by Vladimir Geshkenbein. Rivera had A♥ J♦ and Geshkenbein had 10♠ 10♦. The board ran J♣ J♥ 8♥ 5♠ 9♣ and Rivera hit trips for the win.
Short stacked Yao Hui was the first casualty of the day. We are down to 66 players.
