Unlucky turnout for Gyeong Byeong Lee. He had a very healthy stack coming into the bubble round but lost it all in two successive pots. The first pot had him on the big blind seat. He called Fu Bang Huang’s raise preflop and the spread came 7♣ 3♥ 9♦. Lee checked, Huang bet 26k, Lee called. On the 7♥ turn, action was the same with Lee calling a 32k bet. On the A♠ river, no bets came. Lee was first to show and turned over 9-3 two pair but was no good against Huang’s 10-10 higher two pair.
The bubble hand came right after. It was battle of the blinds between Lee on the small blind and Kosei Ichinose on the big blind. The flop showed K♦ Q♣ 9♦. Lee checked then called Ichinose’s 28k bet. On the 2♦ turn, Lee led for 50k, Ichinose shoved, and Lee called for his tournament life.
Lee 4♦ 5♦ flush
Ichonose Q♥ Q♠ set
The river 2♠ was not what Lee wanted to see. Ichinose improved to a full house and the bubble was delivered. Nutty!
We have reached the money! It’s bagging time!
The second all in shove called arrived with Siyoung Lee K♠ K♥ called by Fu Bang Huang K♦ 7♠. The board stayed dry for a doubled up to Lee.
Seems like Lester Edoc and Fu Bang Huang (second chip leader) keep butting heads. There were several hands we didn’t post s we’ll lay this one down. On a raised pot preflop, the flop ran Q♣ 6♣ K♥. Huang checked, Edoc bet 35k, Huang called. On the 8♣ turn, action was the same on a 45k bet. Then on the 2♣ river, both checked it and Edoc won with K-Q over Q-10. Neither had a club.
After lots of hands that sent us into the next round, we finally saw an all in that got called. Lim Sung Min was in danger of elimination against Hideaki Ohashi. Lim with 10♣ 10♠ and Ohashi with A♦ Q♣ overcards. The board ran 6♥ 8♦ 4♦ 6♦ 5♣ for Lim’s hand to hold strong for a double up.
We are down to the final two tables with 18 remaining. Payouts begin at 17 places so it is bubble time. Lester Edoc is the uber-massive chip leader and he just got richer winning the first pot of the bubble round. On a turn board A♦ 4♠ 10♦ Q♠, Fu Bang Huang bet 33k and Edoc called. On the 9♣ river, no bets came and Huang showed 10♥ 8♥ pair but not good enough against Edoc’s A♥ 5♥ top pair.
Edoc now over a million.
Victor Chong was not happy to see his fate here. Yun Bong raised to 13k, Iori Yogo re-raised to 40k, then down the orbit Chong tanked for some time. The clock was eventually called on him and he put it all on the line. Yun folded while Yogo with the snap call.
Chong K♣ K♠
Yogo A♠ A♦
The board threw bricks running 10♣ 5♣ 4♠ 5♠ J♦ and Yogo shipped in all of Chong’s chips. Yogo up to 580k.
We are down to 18 players….. it’s bubble time!
As we commented, this must be Lester Edoc’s round. The Main Event champion has been rising fast in this round and just moments ago he delivered a massive double shut down with Joachim Chua and Kim Taehyung getting the mighty axe.
Action began with Edoc raising to 14k, Kim called, Chua jammed for around 100k, Edoc shoved 470k plus, and surprisingly, Kim joined in with 390k.
Edoc A♦ K♦
Chua 8-8
Kim 9-9
The board ran J♥ K♠ 6♦ A♣ A♦ for a full house and a sweep! Edoc skyrocketed to 980k.
This seems to be Lester Edoc’s round. He just won another sizable pot to bring him up to 470k. With over 100k in the middle and a turn board 9♥ A♥ 10♣ 6♠, Kim Taehyung bet 63k, Edoc raised to 162k to send Kim to the tanker. Kim eventually asked Edoc if he’d show if he folded and Edoc agreed. Kim folded. Edoc showed his Q♣ J♥ draw. Kim shared his as well, he had 9-8.
