High Roller Champ Keeps Rolling

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

When we interviewed American Josh Stefansky last night after his High Rollers win, he told us he was going to spend his high-stakes winnings by partying the night away.

Guess, parties work for main events too.

In one hand, Stefansky opened the action to 1,100 but saw Ian Marcos, from the hi-jack re-raise it to 3,100. The player from the big blind made the call but Stefansky had an even better idea by moving all-in.

Marcos got out of the way but the BB made the call.

Stefansky: A K
BB Player: Q Q

Flop 6 A 3 gave the lead to Stefansky and the turn 8 and river 10 wasn’t the lady the BB player was looking for.

Stefansky has now over 70,000 in chips.

Dam’s Ladies Slips to Escano

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

Faced with an all-in from an opponent across the table, Allan Escano had to confirm to the dealer, “all-in?” with a tone of disbelief and glee at the same time.

“I call,” declared Escano, who had over 15,000 in chips.

His opponent, Edward Dam showed Q Q and Escano revealed the cause of his glee tabling A A.

The board 5 4 6 5 J provided no queen and Escano doubles up to around 35,000, just right around the average stack while dropping Dam’s haul to around 50,000– still among the leaders in the table

Set Over Set, Le’s Stack Takes Hit

Level: 8 Blinds: 250-500 Ante: 50

After the flop 2 3 6 Joseph Sy led out with 1,200 only to see Nam Le raise it to 3,100. Sy responded by shoving his final 12,000 and Le called to put Sy’s tournament life at risk.

Le’s Ducks looked good until he saw that Sy also had a set with 6 6.

Turn 9 and river A did not provide the miracle one-outer and Sy doubled up to around 30,000. Le’s stack meanwhile dropped to around 39,000.

Dinner Break!

1-hour ceasefire here at the Genting Club in Resorts World Manila.

Big board tells us that 107 of 159 will be returning after this break.

Tan’s Set Trips Queens

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

A middle position player moved all-in for his final 10,000 after the flop 2 6 9… Unfortunately for him, Johnson Tan from the blinds had 6 6 for the easily call.

MP player’s Q Q trailed and the turn 5 and river 10 did not change that to give Tan over 30,000 in chips now.

Queens Bow Down to Jeremias’ Kings

Level: 7 Blinds: 200-400 Ante: 50

Another pre-flop all-in as short stacked players are shoving left and right now…

Joel Jeremias: K K
Opponent: Q Q

The Cowboys were looking good for Jeremias and the board 9 6 3 6 10 assured it stays that way.

Jeremias climbs to over 40,000.

A Chip and A Chair… And an iPad! Goh Wins SuitedAce Surprise Freebie!

In a surprise move from one of APT’s sponsors, SuitedAce rewarded one lucky player who joined the SuitedAce NLHE side event.

During the on-going side tourney, the tournament director asked the players to look if there’s a SuitedAce patch underneath their seats… And it was Alvin Goh who had the patch ‘neat his chair and will bring home the iPad4.

A chip and a chair… and if it’s a SuitedAce event, an iPad!
