86 players remain in contention for the main event title from today’s Day 1B. Yet another unlikely pro comes out on top of the heap, with Jihad Bejjani getting huge chips at the tail end of the final level. The Lebanese has 197,700 chips– our runaway leader for today.
Official and complete chip counts will be updated later and recap of the Day 1B battles can be found in our home page in a few.
The APT Live Reporting team now signing off! See you tomorrow at 1 p.m. for Day 2 of the APT Asian Series Manila 2013 Main Event!
Lester Edoc acted like he was stealing the blinds. Gandy Valle believed every bit of it.
Edoc bet 3,000 preflop but Valle responded with an all-in from the blinds… Bad idea as Edoc had a legit hand Q♠ Q♥ and was ahead of Valle’s J♣ 8♠
The board A♣ 10♥ 3♠ 7♣ 5♠ couldn’t save him from being ousted very, very, very late in Day 1B.
An early position player opened for 2,200 preflop and saw two callers from the mid-position and small blind (Tan Gay Peng)
On the flop J♥ 3♣ 4♣ Tan and the EP player checked but the MP player moved all in for his final 18,800.
Peng called but not the EP player.
Peng: Q♦ J♦
Mid Position Player: 10♣ 7♣
Peng’s opponent needed a club but it never came on the turn 9♠ and river J♠ and he’s ousted of the tournament.
Peng climbed to over 120,000 after this hand.
Mike De Leon checked the flop 3♥ 10♣ J♣ but saw Masakazu Miyamoto lead out with 20,000!
De Leon replied with a shove with his own.
De Leon: K♥ J♠
Miyamoto: A♥ A♦
Turn 6♥ and river 8♦ did not change a thing and this is why Mr. Miyamoto is one of our chip leaders so far.
With less than 30 minutes to go in Level 11 (the cutoff) of Day 1B, we have 98 players left so far.
We went around for some estimated chip counts:
Tan Gay Peng – 115,000
Masakazu Miyamoto -120,000
Marc Rivera – 130,000
Jun Saito -125,000
Antonio Martins – 150,000
Norbert Koh – 90,000
Hajime Iwakura – 135,000
Lester Edoc – 90,000
Joven Huerto – 90,000
When action is simple as this, the live reporting team is very happy.
Preflop all-in between Marc Rivera and a short-stacked player.
Rivera: A♠ K♠
Short-Stacked Player: 10♣ 10♦
Flop: K♣ 6♠ 3♥
Turn: 9♠
River: 2♣
And Rivera busts another player. Rivera has now well over 145,000 in chips.
Preflop all-in, Mike Kim risked his pocket nines but was trailing against Norbert Koh, who had the higher pocket, 10♠ 10♦.
The board Q♠ 7♦ 4♦ 4♠ 8♠ saw no help for Kim and he busts out of the tournament.
Koh, who’s on his second life with a re-entry, is indeed back with a vengeance and now has over 90,000 in chips.
