Haresh Kekreja from the small blind was trying to steal the blinds and antes but the big blind (Ian Marcos) saw small pockets ( 6♠ 6♣) and decide to protect it.
Kekreja showed a mere Q♠ 5♥ and Marcos had a good chance of doubling up.
No change on the flop 5♦ A♠ 10♣ but when the dealer tabled the turn Q♥ Marcos couldn’t believe his luck. No miracle-six on the river 2♣ and he’s officially out of the main event.
Marcos earns PHP 104,000 for his 29th place finish.
In a previous story, Edward Dam shared to us how the queens have practically saved him in crucial hands in this tournament.
So it was only apt that he fell with queens in his final hand of this main event.
Haresh Kekreja opened to 20,000 preflop and Dam responded with a shove with well over 100,000.
Kekreja had a legit hand though and made the call. Dam tabled Q♣ Q♥ and was the underdog against Kekreja’s K♣ K♠.
And like his main event story the entire week, Dam was ecstatic when he saw another lady when the dealer flopped J♣ 10♣ Q♠.
However, the turn K♦ had other plans for Dam… River 7♣ blanked and Dam is eliminated. Dam receives PHP 104,000 for his main event effort.
Bryan Huang had A♣ 7♦ and he decided to risk it all preflop. Unfortunately one guy was just waiting for someone to do just that. That guy was Victorino Torres, who had K♦ K♥.
Flop 8♦ 10♦ 3♠ turn 10♠ and river 2♠ and the popular poker pro is out of the APT main event. Huang goes home with PHP 104,000.
Very short-stacked, Maureen Guieb waited and waited and finally shoved his final 30,000 or so.
Guieb: K♠ 10♦
Lai: 3♣ 4♣
Guieb was ahead but the flop 7♦ 2♦ 4♥ immediately gave the lead to Lai. Turn and river were both queens and we have another bust out.
Guieb goes home in 32nd place with PHP 104,000
Of course at this stage, most players will go to war with the Cowboys.
And if it comes against the Bullets…
Jessie Supnet opened to 21,000 preflop and saw Haresh Kekreja make the call. Next to act, Son Chang Wook wanted even more and shoved his final 100,000 or so.
Supnet called and Kekreja moved out of the way (and probably the good decision:)
Supnet: A♦ A♠
Wook: K♥ K♦
No ace-cracking on a board of 5♦ J♦ 2♠ 10♣ Q♣ and Wook is sent to the rail.
Jhana Hale shoved his stack on the flop 7♦ K♦ 8♠ and saw two players (Simba and Martin Rottem Dahle) call.
Hale: 7♠ 4♠
Simba: 7♥ 7♣
Dahle: K♠ Q♠
Turn Q♦ and river 8♦ arrived giving the pot to main pot to Simba. Dahle survives but Hale gets eliminated in 34th place for PHP 109,000.
Hasumi Akihiko shoved a big one but Annie Bordallo was willing to go to war with her big slick.
Akihiko: A♠ 9♠
Bordallo: A♦ K♠
The board was a dry one 4♣ 4♠ 7♦ J♦ 8♦ for Akihiko and he gets the boot going home with PHP 109,000.
With the board already showing 8♣ 9♠ 5♦, Lim led out only to see Lester Edoc move all-in. A call would mean risking his tournament life… Lim did call and we have a showdown:
Edoc: 8♠ 6♣
Ghee: A♠ A♦
The turn 7♠ mean Ghee’s aces is cracked and river 5♠ changed nothing for yet another bust-out.
Ghee goes home with over 100,000 pesos.
