Korea strikes gold anew, Lee Seongmin takes down Event #4 2-Day NLHE

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – The Korean contingent at the Saigon Poker Club have so far been responsible for taking down both the 2-Day NLHE events with Lee Seoungmin needing less than 20 minutes to defeat his Vietnamese opponent in the APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh 2022 here.

Lee, a Seoul native, proceeded to pick apart Hoang Thai Son in the Heads-Up duel with the end coming when the Vietnamese raised his D with Ad7h which was called by Lee, holding K3c. The flop came JcTc5c, giving Lee the effective nuts as he checked. Hoang checked behind. The turn yielded a Ah and Lee opened followed by a raise from Hoang. After seemingly tanking anf consuming almost the entire shot-clock, Lee shoved. It didn’t take long for Hoang to fall into the trap and give Lee the title and the VND270,270,000.00 (US$11,622.00) prize.

Hoang got VND180,190,000.00 (US$7,748.00) for his second-place finish. Malaysia’s Chee Kar Wee bagged third place for VND125,260,000.00 (US$5,386.00).

The victory now gives Korea two championships here after Oh Sumin captured the first 2-Day NLHE competition (Event #3).

Vietnam has also garnered two crowns thus far with Phan Huu Minh Tri winning the NLHE Warm-Up (Event #1) while Latvian national Aigars Plivcs—a registered voter in Vietnam—triumphant in the Super High-Rollers (Event #2).

Currently, Day 1A of the Main Event (the Early Bird Special) is approaching 200 entries while the VND11M (US$473.00) Pot Limit Ohama (PLO) competition (Event #5) and the Single-Day High-Rollers (Event #6) which has a buy-in of VND32.5M (approximately US$1,400.00) are in full swing.
