Japan’s Satoshi Kuriga comes away with Event #6: Single-Day High-Rollers trophy

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – After a three-handed affair lasted more than three hours, it only took Satoshi Kuriga of Japan less than half an hour to claim victory over local hopeful Ha Van Thien in the Single-Day High-Rollers (Event #6) of the APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh 2022 at the Saigon Poker Club here.

The final had both players All-In Pre-Flop (AIPF) with quality holdings: Ha with 5c5h and Kuriga with AsTd—a virtual coinflip for the title.

The flop of 6d4c2h instantly favored the Vietnamese with his pair and an inside Straight draw. However, the turn produced a Tc. Needing one of the last two 5s or any 3 to survive, Ha saw 9c on the river officially giving the win to Kuriga.

Kuriga got the top prize of VND398,590,000.00 (US$17,139.00) while Ha took home VND244,800,000.00 (US$10,526.00). Nguyen Luu Dong—the chip-leader heading into the three-handed battle, picked up 158,940,000.00for finishing in third place.
