Holz bubbles in 2-day High-Rollers, Taiwan’s Wei Tou Ta captures 2-day NLH

INCHEON CITY, Korea – While Day 1A of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Korea Incheon 2022 Main Event raged on, much of the focus of the day centered on (Event #2) the 2-day KRW4.3M (US$2,994) High-Rollers where not only did the prize pool reach over KRW256M (US$178,830) but also because poker icon Fedor Holz was in the field. All this while (Event #3) the 2-day NLH also reached its climax at the Paradise City Hotel and Casino here.

Holz, who tops Germany’s all-time money list with over US$36M in career earnings, was a late entry at the start of the day and was still in the thick of things when registration closed with 66 entries. At Bubble Time, however, the 29-year-old got himself into an All-In Preflop (AIPF) situation and was coin-flipping for his tournament life when he shoved with 6 6 against his opponent’s A 10.

Dominated in both suits but still slightly ahead before the first three community cards fell, Holz was a picture of calm.

The Flop came: Q J 7 but then the A arrived at the Turn and his 2-outer never showed up as the River was the K. Fedor’s twelfth place crash made him fall short of ITM.

The eleven players remaining are now assured KRW6.414M (US$4,493) while the eventual champion will receive almost KRW74M (US$51,775).

Meanwhile, APT Taiwan 2022 NLH titlist Wei Tou Ta proved that changing venues is just a battleground shift as he emerged victorious in the two-day NLH and outlasted 148 entries for his second APT trophy in just over two weeks and also took down the top prize of close to KRW17M (US$11,765).

The win also represents the Taiwanese international grinder’s sixth APT cash this year and sixteenth overall on the tour.

Finishing second was Seiji Kato of Japan for KRW11,361,000 (US$7,887) while another Taiwanese in Sua Shung Er got third for KRW7,829,000 (US$5,483)

The two new events today are (Event #4) the single-day NLH (which has 177 entries) and (Event #5) the first of the five KRW3.2M (US$2,237) single-day High-Rollers whose registration closed with 48 entries.

Day 1A of the Main Event so far has 58 entries
